It’s the end of the month so it’s been a fairly quiet week – but once again I’m having to say hello to another Netflix Original Series! This week we have “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp” – a prequel to the 2001 comedy “Wet Hot American Summer”. The original film, a spoof of American summer camps, was set during the final days of Camp Firewood in 1981. This new prequel series starts with day one of that same summer camp and, bizarrely, stars most of the original cast – yes, they’re 14 years older and playing younger versions of their characters. It’s not the most serious of premises but it does look rather amusing – you can see the trailer below and all 8 episodes are available to stream now.

Another big hit this week is “The World’s End”, the final film in the Cornetto Trilogy. A group of middle-aged friends attempt a pub-crawl that they failed at during their student years. As all sorts of strange things start happening they finally reach The World’s End Pub – a name that, for some reason, may be rather literal…
And, finally, for the younger viewers this week is the sequel to the Disney classic Aladdin, “Aladdin And The King Of Thieves”. Aladdin is finally marrying Jasmine but their wedding is disrupted by the 40 thieves, who are wanting to find a great treasure. Aladdin gets drawn into a dangerous mission to try and stop the thieves but also find his own father. The original “Aladdin” is also available on Netflix UK.
