The Wandering Earth (2019) Netflix Original
Not many people may realize this but The Wandering Earth is one of the biggest films of 2019 so far. Grossing hundreds of millions in the Chinese box office, The Wandering Earth became the 2nd highest grossing film of all time in China. This sci-fi special definitely deserves a place in your watch list.
In the distant future, the looming threat of the Sun becoming a red giant, force the nations of Earth to form a United Earth Government. In the hope of finding a new home, the world government enacts a plan to send the Earth to the Alpha Centauri system. Giant fusion powered thrusters are created to propel the Earth outside of the Sun’s gravitational field but with the Earth’s rotation stopped, Billions die from the catastrophic waves.
As the Earth gets further away from the Sun, the drop in the Earth’s temperature causes humanity to build underground cities built next to the fusion powered thrusters. 17 years into the 2,500-year journey, the world government intends to use Jupiter’s gravity assist to thrust them further towards their goal. But when the gravity spikes from Jupiter causes chaos on Earth, many of the thrusters are disable. It’s a race against time as humanity must stop the Earth from crashing into Jupiter.
The Last Summer (2019) Netflix Original
Starring Riverdale starlet K.J Appa, The Last Summer is the latest in a trend of ever-increasing teen dramas on Netflix. Perfect for our younger audiences or perfect for you on a binge day.
In the summer before a group of High School graduates is set to go to College. In their final moments before becoming adults, the group of friends must navigate their way through relationships old and new, and enjoy what little time they have left together before departing.
