What’s New on Netflix UK This Week (September 7th, 2018)

Published on EST

Netflix UK has brought us some excellent titles this week that we’re sure you’re bound to love. This week, September 7th 2018, there has been a total of 78 new titles added. This includes 53 new movies, 20 new TV series and five new documentaries/docuseries. Just as we do every week, we’re going to pick out our three favourites from the whole list and let you in on all the details.

Many of us know what it’s like to feel like a loser, to feel like everyone around us thinks we’re ‘uncool’ and that we have to pretend to be someone out of character to be liked. Sierra Burgess Is A Loser (2018) is the new Netflix Original that tells the story of Sierra and her feelings for one boy she formed a relationship with by accident. Sierra comes up with a plan involving the most popular girl in school and they form an unlikely bond. This film showcases the true hardships of being a teenage girl and being insecure about everything you see in the mirror. Shannon Purser (the almighty Barb from Stranger Things) plays the main character while Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) plays the love interest, Jamey. Sierra Burgess Is A Loser is your typical teenage drama movie with a much deeper message. You can’t always judge someone just by the way they look, you have to dig deeper to find what is truly desirable.

Those of you who are fans of Cable Girls will have been left in great suspense after the final episode of series two. The wait is over… Cable Girls Season 3 is now available to stream on Netflix UK. The last season ended with Lidia lying on the ground after falling off a building. Now we can finally see whether she recovers successfully, or not. For those of you who have not seen the series, Lidia is the main female character who was formally known as Alba. She takes some risks to try to get what she wants but, as it turns out, her journey to meet her goal has more of an impact on her than she first thought. Lidia falls in love with her job, meets life-long friends and finds the person she wants to spend forever with. This Spanish drama is one of the best foreign series out there and is worth a watch if you enjoyed the series Velvet.

Today saw the release of the second series of Marvel’s Iron Fist. Danny Rand is not your typical guy – he’s been brought up differently to most and is a martial arts genius. Not only that, but he has the special power of forming an ‘Iron Fist’ which is something far greater than many could even imagine. In the first series, we saw Danny try to take control of his family’s company in New York – that didn’t work out so well due to the divide in culture. However, Danny realises that he has a lot to learn both about business and about himself. It’s only when it’s needed most that he is able to captivate his true talent. This series is worth watching alongside the Netflix series The Defenders.
