January 16th brings with it a couple of big movies as well as a few smaller ones too. Here’s a full look at all the new releases on Netflix for January 16th, 2019.
You may have missed all of the new additions yesterday but not to worry, we summarised the best picks in our daily roundup. As always, keep an eye on our what’s new on Netflix hub for the daily list of new titles added to the service.
American Gangster (2007)
Director: Ridley Scott
Stars: Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Chiwetel Ejiofor
From the award-winning director Ridley Scott comes American Gangster, a biographic crime drama which was nominated for 2 Oscars. It stars Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. In the movie, a cop who has been outcast is tasked with bringing down a drug lord from Harlem.
This will be the first time American Gangster has ever streamed on Netflix in the United States but also is currently streaming on Netflix for Australians.
Directors: Colin & Greg Strause
Stars: Eric Balfour, Donald Faison, Scottie Thompson
Alien invasion movies are always good fun and Netflix has been keen to go into this space with the likes of Extinction that released last year. Skyline released back in 2010 and got absolutely trashed by the critics.
The movie is set in Los Angeles and you follow a family trying to survive an alien invasion that has distinct blue lighting. Unfortunately, this movie is a pile of trash but could plug a 2-hour hole with the in-laws.
Driven to Dance (2018)
You’ll be hard-pressed to find much information on this title around the web. The movie comes from Tati Vogt who has a big back catalog of titles in the dancing and ballet movies.
This new movie which stars Juliet Doherty and Kaitlyn Black and is about a young dancer struggling to decide on her future with her mother pushing her into a different direction to her passion in dance.
Today also saw the loss of two titles on Netflix too. Those are:
- The Inexplicable Universe with Neil deGrasse Tyson
- La Rosa de Guadalupe (Season 2)
