Amy Schumer: Growing now on Netflix
Welcome to your daily recap of what’s new on Netflix for Tuesday the 19th of March 2019 and today includes an addition that will cut audiences right down the middle and has the honor of being the lowest rated Netflix title added in 2019 so far.
In case you’ve not heard, the April 2019 new Netflix releases have been announced for the United States which includes plenty of new Originals as well as some movie favorites too.
Here are the three new titles that were added to Netflix today:
Amy Schumer: Growing (2019) Netflix Original
Genre: Stand-up Special
Director: Amy Schumer
Cast: Amy Schumer
Runtime: 60 min
As we mentioned above, this title isn’t going down well with people on IMDb at the moment. The stand-up special clocks in at an impressive 2.9/10 at the moment. Amy’s first stand-up special faced similar criticism when it released on the service two years ago.
The new special tackles Amy’s ongoing pregnancy, the #MeToo movement and politics.
Others have enjoyed the new special with The Daily Beast calling Amy “sharp as ever”.
Social Animals (2018)
Genre: Documentary
Director: Jonathan Ignatius Green
Cast: Kaylyn Slevin, Emma Crockett, Humza Deas, Demid Lebedev
Runtime: 86 min
This documentary was briefly added at the start of the month but looks to be back for good now. The documentary takes a look at three teenagers that are growing up on Instagram and the effects it’s having on them.
The documentary was well received when it first released last year at South by Southwest.
Tinker’ (2018)
Genre: Drama, Family, Sci-Fi
Director: Sonny Marler
Cast: Clayne Crawford, Christian Kane, Wilmer Calderon, Colt Crawford
Runtime: 97 min
Despite splitting audiences down the middle, this movie by Sonny Marler picked up many awards throughout last year.
The sci-fi indie movie is about a man who’s looking to change the world by building an electromagnetic machine. This plan is complicated by the guardian of his 6-year-old nephew.
