Are Seasons 1-3 of Legion on Netflix?

Legion has returned to Fox for the third and final season, but the most adult Marvel series is available on Netflix but only for some regions. Unfortunately, subscribers in the US are unlikely to receive the series but allow us to explain why. For everyone else, let’s find out whether seasons 1 to 3 of Legion are on Netflix.

If you’re unfamiliar with Legion then you’ve been missing out on one of the best Marvel series to date. Premiering on FX in February 2017, the series was incredibly well received by fans and critics alike. The series takes place within the same universe as the FOX X-Men franchise. But even after 2 successful seasons of television and a potentially incredible third, Legion will still fall victim to Disney’s cull of the X-Men as it prepares to introduce the Mutants into its own cinematic universe.

The show has done a phenomenal job of becoming more than just a superhero series. Told through the eyes of a schizophrenic superpowered being, we’re treated to an unreliable narration filled with colorful spectacles and plot twists.

The story focuses on David Haller who confuses his abilities with a mental illness. Legion stars Dan Stevens, Rachel Keller, and Aubrey Plaza. It’s a shame we have to say goodbye to such a colorful and wonderful character but hopefully, Disney may reintroduce the character sometime in the future.

Why isn’t it coming to Netflix US?

Subscribers in the US will know that Netflix has been receiving Marvel titles from ABC, but never received them from Fox. Even with Disney’s acquisition of all the Marvel properties that were licensed by Fox, Netflix won’t be the future home for content. Not to mention Disney has also purchased Fox’s share in Hulu and stands as the majority shareholder.

If we are to go by previous season releases then season 3 of Legion won’t be coming to Hulu until the Spring of 2020. This is because Hulu doesn’t air episodes of Legion week to week and episodes are not available for catch up.

Why isn’t it coming to Netflix UK?

Sadly, Legion isn’t available on Netflix UK either. The reason for this was because of Fox’s previous stake in the UK network Sky. Even though Comcast is now the majority shareholder it’s still business as usual for many of the contracts that were in place.

You can catch up on weekly episodes of Legion through the Sky Go app if you’re Sky customer. Alternatively, you can stream the series on Now TV which is Sky’s separate service for non-Sky customers.

What Netflix regions are streaming Legion?

Since the series first became available to stream, season 1 landed on Netflix in Brazil, Argentina, and Japan. All three regions got season 1 in February 2018 and they also received season 2 earlier in 2019.

It’s been doom and gloom over the past year for Marvel films on Netflix. With the death of the Netflix Marvel shows, fans haven’t had all that much to look forward to on Netflix. For fans interested in Disney+ there are some series to look forward to when Disney launches their streaming service.

If you’re looking for that superhero fix then make sure to watch the Umbrella Academy. In the future, we can also look forward to the release of the Millarworld titles that Netflix is adapting.
