Resident Alien Season 4 is finally streaming on Netflix US, but if you’re holding out hope for a Season 5, we have some bad news. The beloved sci-fi comedy will not be returning for a fifth outing. If you’ve been glued to your screens over the weekend, chances are you’ve been bingeing the fourth and final season of Resident Alien. The Alan Tudyk-led sci-fi comedy officially touched down on Netflix US on June 6th, 2026, marking the end of a long wait for fans who have followed Harry Vanderspeigle’s Earth-bound misadventures.
Since making its Netflix debut, Resident Alien has been one of the biggest licensed success stories for the streamer. According to Netflix Engagement Reports, the series picked up a staggering 403.2M viewing hours on Netflix across 2024 and 2025, equating to an impressive 45.8M views.
But as viewers reach the end of the 44-episode journey, the inevitable question pops up: Will Netflix step in to save the show and order Season 5 following Syfy’s cancellation?

Why Resident Alien Won’t Be Back for Season 5
Despite finding a massive second life on Netflix, the streamer had no hand in Resident Alien’s cancellation.
The original cancellation decision came directly from NBCUniversal. After airing its first three seasons on Syfy, the show shifted over to the USA Network for Season 4. Ultimately, ahead of the Season 4 finale in August 2025, TVLine were among the outlets that broke the news that the network had officially pulled the plug on the series.
Series creator Chris Sheridan opened up to TVInsider at the time, revealing that the creative team saw the writing on the wall well before the axe officially fell.
“I knew going into it that this was likely going to be our final season. Creatively, that was exciting because I knew we could spend the time wrapping up some storylines and driving toward an ending. I’m so proud of how good Season 4 is and especially proud that we were able to finish as strongly as we did, with a finale that is probably my favorite episode of the series.”

Cast and Fan Reactions to the Cancellation
The end of Resident Alien was met with a mix of gratitude and heartbreak. Star Alan Tudyk, whose masterful and hilarious performance as the crash-landed alien Harry became the undisputed heart of the series, called the show’s end a “weird goodbye” and shared warm sentiments on social media about his time in Patience, Colorado.
Fans, however, were notably more vocal and frustrated, especially given the show’s massive streaming success. Over on the r/ResidentAlienTVshow subreddit, viewers lamented the loss of their favorite comfort watch.
“Another great show cancelled, in spite of its many viewers,” one Reddit user wrote following the Netflix release announcement. “I hope they do it justice with this final season and Alan Tudyk, I also hope it will get picked up again in the near future.”
While Sheridan has remained vaguely optimistic about the potential for a follow-up movie or a six-episode limited series down the road to check in on Harry’s journey, as of right now, Season 4 is the definitive end. Netflix has not announced any plans to revive the series as a Netflix Original, and the odds of it happening are slim, given that Netflix hasn’t revived a high-profile show of this nature in quite some time.
When is Season 4 of Resident Alien coming to other Netflix regions?
If you’re outside the United States, you might be wondering when you can get your hands on the final batch of episodes. As we’ve tracked previously, international distribution for the series has always been a bit staggered.
While Netflix US received the complete Season 4 on June 6th, 2026, we have good news for international fans: additional regions of Netflix will be picking up Season 4 in the weeks to come!
