After a surprisingly short stint on the platform, the hit crime drama series Sneaky Pete will be departing Netflix globally in July 2026.

As you may recall, Netflix surprised subscribers last summer when it licensed Sneaky Pete, a high-profile original series that was initially commissioned and distributed by competitor Amazon Prime Video. That said, the underlying rights were owned by Sony Pictures Television. The show, co-created by Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston and House’s David Shore, follows a con man (Giovanni Ribisi) who assumes the identity of his former cellmate to dodge a vicious gangster.

When Netflix picked up the streaming rights in July 2025, it marked another major acquisition in the ongoing trend of rival platforms licensing their original IP to the streaming giant. However, as is often the case with these third-party agreements, the license was strictly a short-term, one-year, non-exclusive deal.

When is Sneaky Pete leaving Netflix?

The series was licensed to Netflix in two distinct phases, meaning its departure will also be staggered based on where you live.

In Phase One, Sneaky Pete touched down in English-speaking territories between July 10th and 11th, 2025. Exactly one year later, those rights are expiring.

  • Australia and the United Kingdom will see the series depart on July 9th, 2026.
  • The United States and Canada will see the series removed on July 10th, 2026.

In Phase Two, Netflix rolled out the series to the rest of its international territories between July 25th and 26th, 2025. If you live in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Mexico, the Netherlands, Sweden, or Switzerland, you can expect the show to depart exactly one year after its respective launch (July 25th or 26th, 2026).

How well did Sneaky Pete perform on Netflix?

For an older, licensed show that had already been widely available on Amazon Prime Video for years, Sneaky Pete put up a very respectable fight in the Netflix library. While it missed the weekly global top 10s, according to FlixPatrol data, the series spent just shy of a month in the Netflix top 10s, aided by its two-phase rollout, getting a massive bump when Netflix outside the US and UK picked it up.

We also have concrete viewership data from Netflix’s official Engagement Report covering the second half of 2025 (July through December). Unsurprisingly, Season 1 was the major driver of engagement, with viewers tapering off as the seasons progressed:

Title TV Rank Hours Viewed Runtime Total Views
Sneaky Pete: Season 1 249 59,600,000 8:36 6,900,000
Sneaky Pete: Season 2 542 33,700,000 8:32 3,900,000
Sneaky Pete: Season 3 697 24,200,000 7:40 3,200,000

Across all three seasons, the show pulled in the equivalent of 14 million total views in its first six months on the platform. Not too shabby for a licensed title.

If you’ve been putting off watching or finishing Sneaky Pete, you have until mid-to-late July 2026 to wrap up your binge. Once it leaves Netflix, the series will continue to be available exclusively on its original home at Amazon Prime Video.
