We’re slowly getting word of all the new arrivals scheduled for November 2025, and now included among them is the US streaming video on demand debut of Jane Austen Wrecked My Life. This French romantic comedy hit theaters over the Summer.

Scheduled to arrive on Netflix, but only in the United States for now, beginning on November 11th, Jane Austen Wrecked My Life (also known as Jane Austen a gâché ma vie) is a French/English language rom-com that first made its debut at TIFF to spectacular reviews and was later acquired by Sony Pictures Classics in the United States and other regions and released in theaters this May slightly after its launch elsewhere.

The film follows Agathe, a hopelessly clumsy aspiring novelist and Jane Austen enthusiast working at the legendary Shakespeare and Company bookshop in Paris. Frustrated by modern dating and dreaming of an Austen-esque romance, she is struggling with writer’s block and lingering grief. When her best friend and coworker, Félix, secretly submits her unfinished manuscript, Agathe wins a spot at a prestigious Jane Austen Writers’ Residency in the English countryside. Reluctantly traveling to the UK, she finds herself caught in an unexpected love triangle between the charming, familiar Félix and the aloof, but intriguing, Oliver, the great-great-great-great-nephew of Jane Austen, forcing her to confront her own romantic expectations, insecurities, and the true meaning of a modern happily-ever-after.

The movie is coming to Netflix US under a Sony Pictures first-window deal, first struck in 2021, and has seen all their theatrical slate come to the streamer following their initial run for an 18-month period before heading to Hulu/Disney+. That’ll apply here, too, with the movie streaming through May 2027.

The movie currently stands at 86% (and certified fresh rating) on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics highly praising its lead performer, a delightful, witty script, and the film as a love letter to romance.

Among the myriad of positive reviews included Sean Boelman for FandomWire, who wrote, “Jane Austen Wrecked My Life knows its audience and caters directly to them. If you, like the film’s protagonist, are obsessed with Jane Austen literature and film adaptations, you’ll certainly adore this love letter to the great author.” RogerEbert was equally praising, saying the film is “a romantic comedy for the quiet, thoughtful lovers who yearn for the sincerity of the past.”

The full cast for the movie included:

  • Camille Rutherford as Agathe Robinson (Anatomy of a Fall, Blue is the Warmest Colour)
  • Pablo Pauly as Félix (The French Dispatch, Patients)
  • Charlie Anson as Oliver (Death on the Nile, The Little Drummer Girl)
  • Annabelle Lengronne as Chéryl (Sisters, A Girl Cries)
  • Liz Crowther as Beth (The Crown, Agatha Raisin)
  • Alan Fairbairn as Todd (Outlander, T2 Trainspotting)
  • Lola Peploe as Olympia
