Spanish series Hache has already been given its season 2 order at Netflix only a few weeks after season 1 debuted on Netflix. Here’s what you need to know about the renewal and what we can expect from the new season.

The new Spanish thriller is part of a big push for viewership in the Spanish market. Netflix has had plenty of success with titles such as Elite and Money Heist, which have performed well in both Spain and international regions. In April 2019, Madrid was announced to be the home of a new production hub for Netflix.

Hache is set in 1960s Barcelona, where Helena infiltrates a cartel to learn their secrets. She must gain the love and trust of the cartel leader.

Although Netflix hasn’t released any stats regarding the show’s success, we know it has performed well with critics and audiences. It managed to hit 156 on the IMDb index, which is impressive for a Spanish language series.

Season 1 (8 episodes) of Hache landed on Netflix globally on November 1st.

The announcement of season 2 of Hache came via a Tweet from Netflix’s Spanish social accounts. It translates to (roughly):

“The “damn the teacher and damn the apprentice” thing to #Hache falls short. The second season arrives in 2020.”

What can we expect from season 2 of Hache? Season 1 wrapped up with Hache taking out vengeance with Malpica’s betrayer imprisoned and tortured.

Thanks to Diezminutos, we know that season 2 will see Hache back at the head of the criminal enterprise and teases that we could see the resurrection of Javier Rey.

For the moment, that’s all we know about season 2 of Hache coming to Netflix at some point in 2020. Our best guess is that we’ll see Hache arrive in roughly a similar release window as season 1, so around October to December 2020.
