Lee Jung Eun and Kim Mu Yeol will star as the leads in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of the Korean webtoon, The Shooter (WT). Filming is to begin in July 2026. Details are limited, but we expect filming to get underway in the coming months. Here’s everything we know so far about The Shooter (WT) on Netflix.
The Shooter (WT) (Also known as Granny) is an upcoming South Korean Netflix Original action-thriller directed by Han Dong Wook and is based on the webtoon Granny (할매) by author Jae Hu. The series was originally intended as a co-production between Sanae Pictures and Studio Dragon, but after a dispute over profits, Sanae Pictures reportedly walked away from the production, leaving Studio Dragon as the sole producer.
What is the plot of The Shooter (WT)?
The synopsis has been sourced from the manga:
“Jung Suk Ja’s grandson, Kwon Yong Hui, is her entire world. But everything comes crashing down after he ends up in a coma. The culprits behind it, the infamous Black Star Mob, are set free despite all evidence. Then one day, two men suddenly appear in front of Mrs. Jung, telling her they will train her so she can enact revenge on her grandson’s assailants and take down the mob once and for all. Hesitant at first, she decides to work with them and begins to hunt down her prey one by one.”

Who are the cast members of The Shooter (WT)?
Previously, the only two cast members attached to the project were Lee Jung Eun and Kim Mu Yeol. With the official announcement from Netflix we have also learned that Huh Joon Ho, Choi Sung Eun, Bae Na Ra, Seo Hyon Woo and Moon Jong Won have now joined the cast.
Lee Jung Eun will play Jung Suk Ja. The actress has been one of the most prolific South Korean actors on the streaming service, starring in numerous Netflix projects. For Netflix, Lee Jung Eun has starred in Heavenly Ever After, The Trunk, The Frog, Daily Dose of Sunshine, Our Blues, Juvenile Justice, Law School, and many more.
Netflix has released a character description for Jung Suk Ja:
“Having raised her grandson on her own while working at a restaurant, Suk-ja’s life is upended when he’s left fighting for his life after a brutal attack by unidentified assailants. To avenge her grandson, she picks up a gun for the first time since her youth.”
Kim Mu Yeol will play Seo Yeon U. For Netflix, the actor has starred in seasons 2 and 3 of Sweet Home, and played a leading role in Juvenile Justice alongside co-star Lee Jung Eun. He also starred in supporting roles in Netflix films Ballerina and Space Sweepers.
Netflix has released a character description for Seo Yeon U:
“Sook-ja’s ally and the mastermind behind the revenge. While visiting Suk-ja in the depths of her grief and rage, Yeon-woo reveals that her grandson’s accident is connected to Chunghwa Group, awakening her instinct to hunt down the truth. With a wealth of information and sharp judgment, he aids her revenge yet seems to have slightly different motives.”

- Huh Joon Ho (Notes from the Last Row) plays Jang Gwang Cheol, the former leader of the Heukseong Gang and now chairman of Chunghwa Group.
- Choi Sung Eun (Beyond Evil) plays Sin Ji Hyeon, head of Chunghwa Group’s China office and director of Operations Unit 3.
- Bae Na Ra (Weak Hero Class 2) as Cheon Tae Seok, assistant to the chairman of Chunghwa Group and director of Operations Unit 2.
- Seo Hyeon Woo (The Fiery Priest S2) as Yoo Il Gu, the black sheep of Chunghwa Group and director of Operations Unit 4.
- Moon Jong Won (Six Flying Dragons) as Um Sang Pil, the owner of a bed-and-breakfast with a mysterious past.

What is the production status of The Shooter (WT)?
Filming has been underway since July 2026 and is expected to wrap sometime in early 2027.
When is the Netflix release date for Granny?
With filming set to end in early 2027, it’s possible we will see a late 2027 release. However, an early 2028 release is more realistic.
