A brand new weekly K-drama from SBS is headed to Netflix sometime in 2027: the sci-fi crime thriller Nightmare. The series will star Fiery Priest’s Kim Nam Gil and Squid Game’s Lee You Mi, who will play a pair of detectives working in a world where AI has infiltrated humans’ dreams and punishes criminals with inescapable nightmares. Here’s everything we know so far.
Nightmare is an upcoming South Korean sci-fi and crime-thriller series directed by Lee Dan, who previously directed the second season of Taxi, and written by Kim Kyu Won, who wrote the sci-fi melodrama Alice.
When is Nightmare coming to Netflix?
An official release date for Nightmare has yet to be announced. All we know so far is that the K-drama is expected to be released in 2027 and will air simultaneously on South Korea’s broadcaster, SBS, and on Netflix.
A special teaser for the K-drama has already been released.

“Set in a world where AI has infiltrated human dreams, creating a system that punishes criminals by trapping them in inescapable nightmares. When offenders evade the law, they are instead subjected to this technology, which manipulates the subconscious and turns fear into a tool of justice.”
Who are the cast members of Nightmare?
Kim Nam Gil and Lee You Mi are the two leads of the K-drama.
Kim Nam Gil plays Kim Tae I. The actor has had leading roles in Netflix projects such as Trigger and Song of the Bandits. He also held a supporting role in Karma. Outside of Netflix, he has led K-dramas such as The Fiery Priest, Island, Through the Darkness and Live Up to Your Name.
Kim Tai I has been given the following description:
“Detective Kim Tae I of the Violent Crimes Unit at Nambu Police Station, known for his sharp instincts and relentless pursuit of the truth, becomes entangled in a series of cases linked to this dream-based punishment system. As he investigates, he uncovers a larger conspiracy behind the AI technology, confronting a reality where human fear and desire are weaponized. “

Lee You Mi plays Jang Gyu Eun. One of Netflix’s most prominently featured actresses, she has starred in some giant dramas such as Squid Game and All of Us Are Dead. She also led in K-dramas such as Strong Girl Nam Soon, Mr. Plankton and As You Stood By.
Jang Gyu Eun has been given the following character description:
“Working alongside him is Detective Jang Gyu Eun, a shy and introverted victim specialist haunted by the trauma of a tragic childhood accident. Driven by a need for vengeance, she hides a dark role within the system—transforming in the dream world into a ruthless “nightmare architect” who torments criminals who have escaped justice.”
