Picture: The Gentlemen (S2) is now available to stream on Netflix UK
This week marks the long-awaited return of Guy Ritchie’s incredible crime-comedy series The Gentlemen, which is just one of 39 new movies and TV shows added to Netflix UK. Alongside The Gentlemen, this week sees the addition of cult-classic True Romance and Good Will Hunting.
First of all, here are the week’s highlights:
The Gentlemen S2
After a two-year wait, Theo James and Kaya Scodelario return for a second season of The Gentlemen. Fans won’t be disappointed; this season is yet another incredible installment in Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy.
Season 2 picks up one year after Eddie Horniman (Theo James) and Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) cemented their unholy alliance to run Bobby Glass’s (Ray Winstone) criminal empire. The business is going overseas and is driving hard to expand the enterprise. However, there’s a massive snag. Bobby’s decisions are becoming increasingly unsound, leaving Eddie and Susie in a precarious position. Do they stage a coup against the big boss and take action into their own hands, or do they hold steady and risk losing the entire empire?
True Romance
A cult classic, True Romance is a true 90s gem, featuring incredible performances from the likes of Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, and Christopher Walken.
In this Quentin Tarantino-penned thriller, comic-book nerd Clarence marries call girl Alabama and accidentally steals a suitcase of cocaine from her pimp. The newlyweds flee Detroit for Los Angeles to sell the drugs and start anew, relentlessly pursued by ruthless mobsters and police in a bloody race for survival.
Good Will Hunting
While known for his eccentric comedic roles, Robin Williams delivered an incredibly dramatic and heartfelt performance as therapist Sean, earning him a well-deserved Academy Award. Alongside him, a then-fledgling Matt Damon paired his own brilliant writing with a breakout performance that helped launch him into becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men.
Will Hunting is an unrecognized math genius working as an MIT janitor. To avoid jail after a brawl, he agrees to study advanced mathematics and attend therapy. Guided by a compassionate psychologist, Will confronts his deep-seated childhood trauma, embraces his extraordinary potential, and finally opens his heart to love.
