The penultimate month of the year is just around the corner, and while we don’t quite have the full picture of what’s coming up throughout November, we certainly know of the most significant swings. Below, we’ll preview the eight biggest new Netflix Original movies, series, and documentaries scheduled to arrive.
We’ll have a complete early first look preview of everything coming up throughout November 2025, including all the licensed titles in due course. For now, here are the Netflix Original movies and series that should be on your radar for the month. We’ll also exclude all the Christmas titles from this list as we’ve got another preview for those coming up soon.
Let’s get into it:
Death by Lightning

It’s been a decent year for new limited series, and there are really two noteworthy ones that will be rounding out the year, Death by Lightning and The Beast in Me, led by Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys. Both of which are destined for release this November. We’ll touch on the latter in a second, but let’s spend a second on Death by Lightning, a four-episode historical epic.
The series dramatizes the extraordinary rise and tragic fall of U.S. President James Garfield and his greatest admirer turned assassin, Charles Guiteau. Michael Shannon stars as Garfield, with Matthew Macfadyen as Guiteau, joined by Nick Offerman as Chester Arthur and Betty Gilpin as Crete Garfield. It comes from creator and writer Mike Makowsky (Bad Education), with executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (3 Body Problem, Game of Thrones) and Bernie Caulfield.
Frankenstein

What are Netflix’s best shots at Oscar glory this season? Looking at the current odds on GoldDerby (for whatever they’re worth), it looks like KPop Demon Hunters and Frankenstein have the best shots at some award glory. Guillermo del Toro is no stranger to awards, of course, with the horror and storytelling aficionado having worked on some incredibly prestigious projects before, including with Netflix, which he took to Oscar glory with Pinocchio.
Serving as a long-awaited passion project for the director, he’s bringing to life the world of Mary Shelley with an all-star cast headlined by Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, and Christoph Waltz, among many others.
At the premiere event for the film, Guillermo del Toro said, “The movie is the best experience I’ve ever had shooting a movie,” adding, “I think it’s incredibly personal, and at the same time it’s like sending your kid to school. You get nervous, send it out to the world, and pray for the best. Well, I think that it’s never been more intimate and more epic at the same time.”
If you can’t wait to watch Frankenstein on Netflix, the movie will also be available in select theaters beginning October 17th.
The Beast in Me

In The Beast in Me, Claire Danes takes center stage as acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs, a woman shattered by the tragic loss of her young son. Once a celebrated literary voice, Aggie has since withdrawn from public life, paralyzed by grief and unable to write. That is, until a mysterious new neighbor reignites her creative obsession. When Nile Jarvis, played by Matthew Rhys, a powerful real estate mogul long suspected of his wife’s disappearance, moves in next door, Aggie becomes both horrified and intrigued. Drawn into his dark orbit, she begins to investigate his past, blurring the line between curiosity and compulsion. What starts as research for her comeback novel soon spirals into a dangerous psychological duel, one that forces her to confront not only his secrets, but her own.
In Your Dreams

Netflix animation has been on a streak in 2025 with some critically acclaimed titles and one even reaching the very top of Netflix’s all-time most-watched movie list. Another movie they’re putting a lot of weight behind is In Your Dreams, which comes from Kuku Studios and Sony Pictures Imageworks, with Alex Woo and Erik Benson directing. Described as a big family comedy adventure, the film centers on two siblings who manage to journey into their own dreams in the hopes of granting their ultimate wish. From what we’ve seen thus far, it’s an incredibly colorful affair with some solid voice acting and an assortment of interesting and unique characters, not least a talking toy giraffe.
Train Dreams

One of the biggest pickups Netflix has done this year from the festival circuit is this period drama from director Clint Bentley, best known for working on Jockey and Sing Sing. The very well-reviewed title will enter select theaters from November 7th, ahead of its big Netflix release on November 21st. Bringing to life the novella by Denis Johnson, the film presents as a moving portrait of Robert Grainier, a logger and railroad worker who leads a life of unexpected depth and beauty in the rapidly changing America of the early 20th Century. Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon, and William H. Macy headline the cast.
Stranger Things (Season 5 - Volume 1)
Picture: Netflix
Rounding out the month and beginning its massive final season is Stranger Things, which concludes after first premiering on Netflix all the way back in 2016. It’s been a long journey, but the first four episodes of Volume 1 will drop for Thanksgiving with the following teases as to what we can expect from each episode:
“The Crawl” is our favorite, most eventful first episode since Season 1.
“The Vanishing of…” (yeah yeah you think you know who blah blah) has by far the craziest cold open we’ve ever done. One of the sequences we’re most proud of this season.”
“The Turnbow Trap” is the most classic Stranger Things-y episode of the season. It’s got all our favorite things. Directed by one of our idols Frank Darabont (Shawshank! Green Mile! Walking Dead!) — who literally came out of retirement for this. He crushed it, obviously.
“Sorcerer” is MASSIVE — as big as any finale we’ve ever done, and the most logistically insane shoot of our lives. We’re still recovering.”
Unlike most Netflix Originals, Stranger Things is taking a prime-time spot on Netflix, meaning that, depending on where you live, the series will either be available on November 26th or 27th. Here’s a quick run-through:
