For the past year, Netflix globally has been streaming the hit FOX medical drama series The Resident, created by Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore, and Roshan Sethi. If you’re planning to start a binge or midway through one, you’ll want to pick up the pace as the show is going to be leaving Netflix over the next few months globally.
Starring Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Manish Dayal, and Shaunette Renée Wilson, among others, the show follows the staff members of the Chastain Park Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. The show ran for 107 episodes before being canceled in early 2023.
This news comes as Netflix has had a bit of a bad time with medical dramas as of late. The biggest swing Netflix has ever had in the genre was PULSE, which ultimately missed earlier this year and was canceled after only a single season. It’s Spanish medical drama Breathless, which was released in 2024, got off to a better start, however, and will return for its second season this October. On the licensing front, Netflix has also picked up House M.D. and The Good Doctor in many international territories over the past few years.
The Resident Leaving Netflix US in September 2025
Beginning with the United States, all six seasons of The Resident are scheduled to depart on September 4th, 2025, with a notice now showing stating your “Last day to watch” is on September 3rd.
The removal aligns exactly 18 months after its addition, which is in line with all the other Disney shows that have come to Netflix over the past couple of years. We’ve already seen This Is Us and The Wonder Years leave with White Collar, Lost, and Prison Break on the departure schedule in the coming months.
The series will remain available on its primary home of Hulu once it departs from Netflix.

When will The Resident leave Netflix internationally?
The good news is that The Resident is remaining on all international territories for a bit longer, but could be leaving by the end of 2025. Netflix has the global rights to the show at the moment, with most territories having picked up the show in September 2024, months after the US picked it up.
Our intel currently suggests Netflix has the license through November 20th, 2025. This date applies to all regions, including Canada, Australia, the UK, and European, Latin American, and Asian territories. The only caveat here is that the series might have its license renewed. If that should happen, we’ll update this post.
In international territories, the show is available in full on Disney+.
