Picture: Taron Egerton is set to star in Netflix’s horror film Alpha
In December 2025, Netflix won a bidding war against seven other companies for Halil Ozsan’s horror feature, Alpha. Already described by many as “As An American Werewolf in London meets American Psycho,“ the film promises plenty on its premise, and it’s rumored to star leading man Taron Egerton. Here’s everything we know so far about Alpha on Netflix.
Alpha is an upcoming Netflix Original horror film written by Halil Ozsan and will be produced by Tory Tunnell, Joby Harold, and Adam Goldworm. Safehouse Pictures is the studio behind the film.
What is the plot of Alpha?
The synopsis for Alpha has been sourced from Production Weekly:
“In modern-day London, mild-mannered American expat Petey appears to have it all: a devoted English wife, Charlie, and a coveted job at SterlingWolfe Investment Bank. Yet beneath the surface, Petey feels emasculated and invisible—bullied at work, paralyzed in moments of danger, and unable to start a family. His swaggering boss, Jackson, embodies everything Petey believes he is not. After a humiliating stretch of failures, Petey bolts from his home one night in a fugue of frustration, collapsing in a distant park. When he awakens, something primal has shifted inside him. Suddenly magnetic and fearless, Petey reignites his marriage, challenges Jackson in a bold boardroom coup, and captures the attention of the firm’s most formidable trader, Alexis. His risky financial gambit earns millions and puts him on the fast track to power. Who are the cast members of Alpha?
So far, the only confirmed cast member of Alpha is Taron Egerton. The actor previously starred in Netflix’s smash hit film Carry-On and will return to the streaming service for a second time on April 24, 2026, for Apex, starring alongside Charlize Theron and Eric Bana. Outside of Netflix, Egerton is most well known for his roles as “Eggsy” in Kingsman: The Secret Service and as Elton John in the biopic Rocketman.

What is the production status of Alpha?
At the time of writing the film is currently in active development, and there’s no word on when filming could get underway.
Filming recently wrapped on Taron Egerton’s latest project, which now means he is free to begin filming on projects such as Alpha. It’s our expectation that Alpha will begin filming at somepoint in 2026.
When could we expect to see Alpha on Netflix?
Without a filming schedule, it’s a tough task to speculate on when the film will be released on Netflix. If filming begins in 2026, a realistic release date would be late 2027 or early 2028.
If filming runs into 2027, then we’d be largely certain that Alpha would not release on Netflix until 2028.
