The first new cast members have been revealed for Cameron Diaz’s new Netflix film, Bad Day. Reported to have joined the cast are Ed O’Neill, Danielle Brooks, John Higgins, Rhenzy Feliz, Jessica Belkin, and Emma Pearson.
Bad Day is an upcoming Netflix comedy produced by Beau Bauman of Good One Productions, who is responsible for producing several Netflix projects, including Back in Action, Unfrosted, The Umbrella Academy, and Let It Snow.
Filming for Bad Day is set to begin on September 29, 2025, and is scheduled to conclude by December 19, 2025. The film has already cast Cameron Diaz in the lead role, playing a single mother from Queens, New York City, whose day quickly spirals out of control, becoming the worst day of her life as she fights to keep a promise she made to her daughter.

Who has been cast in Bad Day?

In issue 1472 of Production Weekly, the following cast members have been reported to have joined the cast of Bad Day.
Ed O’Neill has been cast as the father-in-law of the lead character. Further details about the character have yet to be announced. The actor is most beloved for his roles as Al Bundy in the long-running 1980s/1990s sitcom Married… with Children and as Jay Pritchett in Modern Family.
Danielle Brooks will play the role of a “grumpy NYPD detective.” To Netflix subscribers, she is most well known for her role as Tasha “Taystee” Jefferson in Orange Is the New Black. Her recent work includes playing Leota Adebayo in James Gunn’s DC series Peacemaker, the 2023 adaptation of The Color Purple, A Minecraft Movie, and as the voice of Kitty Kat in The Bad Guys 2.
John Higgins will reportedly play the cop partner of Brooks. The actor is most well-known for his work as a writer on Saturday Night Live, but his acting roles include A Man Called Otto, Ghostbusters, The Country Club, and Clara’s Ghost.
Rhenzy Feliz is best known for his roles as Victor Aguilar in The Penguin, the voice of Camilo in Disney’s Encanto, and as Alex Wilder in the Marvel series Runaways.
Jessica Belkin played the role of Wren in American Horror Story, and was recently seen in Netflix’s The Hunting Wives as the young Margo Banks. She‘s also starred in films such as Last Straw, Singing in My Sleep, and Hunt Club.
Emma Pearson only began her acting career in 2020, but she has starred in shows such as Blue Bloods, FBI: Most Wanted, Evil Lives Here, and Unsolved Mysteries. She is likely playing the role of Cameron Diaz’s character’s daughter.
