I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson has easily become one of Netflix’s absolute best, most meme-able, and deeply unhinged sketch comedy shows. It’s now been over three years since Season 3 dropped back in May 2023; fans have been desperately waiting for a crumb of news. So, will there be a Season 4? Will we finally get more of Tim in ridiculous, complicated shirts?
The short answer: Yes, hopefully, but we’ll probably have to be a little patient.
The show has never been a huge viewership hit for Netflix as it’s never spent a single week in the global top 10s, but it’s definitely fulfilled a few other vital goals for the streamer. Looking at the Engagement Report coverage for the show, it’s pulled in 47.9M hours watched between 2023 and 2025, equating to 28.7M views. What goals does it fulfill for Netflix? For one, it’s been an awards magnet and indeed a critical darling since its inception, picking up a bunch of nominations and winning many of them. Secondly, while the viewership on Netflix itself isn’t up to an S-tier like some of the biggest hits, the series does pick up plenty of eyeballs on other platforms thanks to the nature of how the show is shot. On TikTok and YouTube alone, we counted hundreds of millions of views.
Here’s your comprehensive look at everything we know so far about the future of I Think You Should Leave Season 4.
I Think You Should Leave Season 4 Renewal Status
Official Netflix Renewal Status: Not officially announced by Netflix, but heavily confirmed by the show’s producers and network executives.
Usually, Netflix is quick to swing the axe or hand out a renewal, but with a beloved creator-driven project like I Think You Should Leave, they are giving Tim Robinson and co-creator Zach Kanin all the space they need, it seems. A SAG-AFTRA entry for “year 4” (season 4) for the show has been present for years now so it seems like the door is open but it’s just about when the stars align.
In a recent May 2026 interview with Variety, Netflix stand-up chief Robbie Praw and scripted comedy boss Tracey Pakosta sat down to talk about curating the Netflix Is a Joke festival and what’s next on Netflix’s comedy slate. When asked directly if they had spoken to Tim Robinson about doing more of the sketch show, Praw gave a highly optimistic update:
PRAW: “I don’t want to speak for Tim, but he has such a deep passion for that show, and we’re obsessed with it. We don’t pressure Tim, but we just know that he loves doing it, and I would imagine at some point he’ll want to do it again.”
But wait, it gets better. Producer Akiva Schaffer gave an even more concrete update during an interview with Collider in late 2025. Schaffer straight-up confirmed that a deal is in place and writing has commenced:
“They have a deal, and they’ve been writing sketches, but they also have the HBO show, and they’ve got to finish up that season. So, I don’t have a date or anything like that, but just know there are sketches that I have not read that they have written. They want to do it, and Netflix wants it, so it will happen. It’s just that they are doing this season of this HBO show. They’ve got to wrap that up, and then, I’m assuming, they’ll switch gears back to it.”
You read that right: “It will happen.”
Why the long wait for Season 4?
If they want to do it, and Netflix wants it, why has it been missing in action for three full years? Well, Tim Robinson has become a very busy guy in Hollywood.
Following the massive Emmy-winning success of the first three seasons, Robinson and Kanin set their sights on a few other major projects including:
- The Chair Company (HBO): Robinson and Kanin co-created and executive produced this half-hour comedy thriller, which was picked up by HBO. Robinson starred as William Ronald Trosper, a man unraveling a massive conspiracy after an embarrassing incident at work.
- Friendship (A24): Robinson also teamed up with Paul Rudd for the A24 comedy film Friendship, which released in theaters to high praise.
- Live Tour: Robinson hit the road for a highly successful live tour of the show across the US.
Now that The Chair Company has wrapped its first season, Robinson and Kanin could’ve switched back, but it looks like HBO has other plans after it handed the show a season 2 pickup.
As Akiva Schaffer noted, though, the sketches are currently on paper, which means pre-production, casting (for all those amazing guest stars), and filming still need to happen.
We’ll be keeping our ears to the ground and updating this post as soon as Netflix drops an official release date (or a trailer featuring Robinson yelling at a stranger in a parking lot).
