Netflix is gearing up for a massive finish to the year when it comes to adult animation. Following a string of major announcements at this year’s industry events—including the expansive Netflix Anime Annecy showcase roundup back in June—Netflix is back and at AnimeNYC, which brought us massive slate updates for the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners sequel and Blue Eye Samurai Season 2—we’ve just been treated to a fresh look at one of the new releases still to come in 2026: Bass X Machina.

This genre-bending sci-fi Western just received an explosive new teaser trailer and a batch of gorgeous first-look images, building on the hype ahead of its newly set November 2026 release.

Here’s an updated look at everything you need to know about Bass X Machina, plus a breakdown of these brand-new visuals.

First Look: A Gritty, Steampunk Wild West

If the newly released images are anything to go by, Studio Mir and creator LeSean Thomas are cooking up an absolute visual feast. The steampunk aesthetic is dialed up to eleven, blending classic Wild West iconography with heavy, steam-powered machinery.

Here is a breakdown of what the new first-look images reveal:

  • Meet Bass (top of the article): We get a striking close-up of our titular protagonist, Bass. Weathered, battle-hardened, and sporting a classic wide-brimmed hat with a high-collared coat and scarf, he looks every bit the stoic, gritty lawman. The falling snow (or perhaps ash) adds a cinematic, somber tone to his character design.
  • Mechanical Terrors: The official logline promises a world “overrun by machines,” and the images deliver. One still shows a massive, terrifying mechanical bull with glowing red eyes and heavy exhaust pipes, standing menacingly in front of a dusty western storefront (“The Proctor & Gamble”).
  • High-Octane Action: Another image highlights the kinetic action Studio Mir is famous for. We see Bass—mechanical arm fully visible—leaping dynamically through the air to take down a hulking, heavily armored robot. The backdrop features a massive, shattered clock face and scattered theater seating, hinting at some incredibly stylish set pieces.
  • Incredible World-Building: Finally, we get a glimpse into the broader Steampunk world with a shot of a massive, heavily armored flying locomotive. Suspended inside a grand, glass-roofed station, this imposing piece of machinery is watched by awe-struck onlookers in western garb, perfectly capturing the show’s blend of 19th-century frontier life and advanced sci-fi tech.
