Production is officially underway on Netflix’s new mystery K-drama thriller, Road. The series will be led by Korea’s Son Suk Ku and Japan’s Eita Nagayama. Here’s everything we know about Road on Netflix.
Road is an upcoming South Korean Netflix Original mystery thriller directed by Han Jun Hee and produced by the South Korean studio Shortcake.

What is the plot of Road?
Netflix has provided a new synopsis for Road:
“International crime thriller that follows two detectives as they track a series of gruesome cross-border murders, characterized by twisted bodies and mysterious dying messages. The story begins in Tokyo, when a disfigured body is found with a blood-inked message written in Korean. Soon after, a similar case emerges in Korea, this time written in Japanese. As the pattern continues, the authorities realize they are dealing with a serial killer operating across countries, prompting a joint investigation that takes the detectives from Seoul to Tokyo and beyond.”
Who are the cast members of Road?
The two lead cast members for the series are Eita Nagayama and Sukku Son.
Eita Nagayama plays Inose. The Japanese actor has yet to star in a Netflix Original series, but can be seen on Netflix in Japanese dramas such as Nodame Cantabile, Orange Days, Unnatural, and Why I Dress Up for Love. His last television appearances were in 2023 in dramas such as Don’t Use Time Travel for Love and Even If You Don’t Do It.

Son Suk Ku plays Kang Chung Do. The actor has already starred in several Netflix K-dramas such as Heavenly Ever After, A Killer Paradox, DP, My Liberation Notes, Be Melodramatic, and Designated Survivor: 60 Days.

Confirmed to star in the series are Kim Shin Rok, Choi Sung Eun, and Jung Jae Young.
Kim Shin Rok previously starred in Netflix K-dramas such as Tastefully Yours, Hellbound, Sweet Home, Queen of Tears, and A Model Family. Choi Sung Eun previously starred in Netflix’s The Sound of Magic. Jung Jae Young has yet to star in a Netflix K-drama and has led series such as Partners for Justice, Duel, and Assembly.

What is the production status of Road?
Filming was scheduled to begin in June 2025, but production has only just been confirmed to have started in September 2025.
When is the Road Netflix release date?
There is no official Netflix release date for Road, and given the filming schedule, we likely won’t see the series on Netflix until either late 2026 or early 2027.
