After the massively successful original run of Peaky Blinders as well as The Immortal Man feature film, Netflix is further expanding the world of Peaky Blinders with a sequel series that is filming as we speak. The new series will take the story into the 1950s with Tommy Shelby’s children and the heirs of the Peaky Blinders, so to speak.
As we previously reported late last year, the yet-untitled series has already been given a massive two-season order, with each season consisting of six episodes as is usual for Peaky Blinders since its inception. The two directors for the first season are Mike Barker (The Handmaid’s Tale, The Sandman) and Anna Zackrisson (Detective Hole, Deliver Me) with Steven Knight serving as creator as showrunner.
Some principal cast members have already been announced, but have several more to share with you today.
New cast members for Peaky Blinders sequel series

We can confirm that the following actors have joined the Peaky Blinders sequel series in various sized roles: George Hannigan (Red Rose) as Arthur Sharp, Matthew Shelby (Shakespeare and Hathaway) joining as Platt, Atilla Akinci (Doctor Who) as Doctor Clemens, Christopher Sheen (House of the Dragon) as The Belfast Man, Gary Bates (The Thursday Murder Club) as Graves as well as Liam Jeavons (Sherwood), Dean Weir (Grantchester), Gemma Arrowsmith (I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning) and Alfie Chappell in undisclosed roles.
They join the already announced cast that consists of Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), Jamie Bell (Rocketman), Jessica Brown Findlay (Harlots), Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die), Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones), Daniel Monks (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), Samuel Bottomley (California Schemin’), Arturo Muselli (Gomorrah), Eugene Collins (The Bay), Cal O’Driscoll (Vikings: Valhalla) as Aidan Keeler (we first covered his involvement earlier this year), and Lucie Shorthouse (We Are Lady Parts).
In addition to all of that, Packy Lee and Ned Dennehy are reprising their roles as Johnny Dogs and Charlie Strong from the original Peaky Blinders series.
What’s the plot of the new Peaky Blinders?
The new series will pick up a full ten years after the events of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, in the 1950s. Here’s the official logline:
“In this new era of Peaky Blinders, a decade after World War Two, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy. At its blood-soaked heart is Duke Shelby (Jamie Bell): older, wiser, more ambitious, and most certainly more dangerous.”
