Following the massive success of the recent Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man feature film, the Peaky Blinders universe is officially expanding into a brand-new decade. Filming has been underway for the past few months for the highly anticipated 1950s-set sequel series, and we’ve got some thrilling new behind-the-scenes pictures of Stranger Things fan-favorite Charlie Heaton right in the thick of the action, plus confirmation and new/returning additions to the cast.
As a reminder, the sequel series, created by Steven Knight, leaps forward ten years after the events of the Second World War. As the race to rebuild Birmingham begins, it becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. Duke (Jamie Bell) and Charles Shelby (Charlie Heaton) find themselves in a city of unprecedented opportunity and intense jeopardy.
As previously announced, stepping out of the Upside Down and into the gritty, post-WWII criminal underworld, Heaton is taking on the role of Charles Shelby—the all-grown-up son of Cillian Murphy’s iconic Tommy Shelby. And judging by these new set photos, Charles hasn’t managed to escape the family business.
Here is a breakdown of what we can see from the latest night-shoot snaps shot by MC Pix last week:

‘Summer ’36’: Netflix Locks In Release Schedule for Ambitious French Historical Drama Limited Series
Charlie is dressed impeccably in a sharp, mid-century dark suit, complete with a crisp white shirt, thin tie, and vintage braces. His hair is slicked down in a classic 1950s cut, perfectly fitting the show’s new era. Whatever scene is being filmed here, it’s intense. Shot on wet, rain-slicked cobbled streets among vintage cars, Charles Shelby looks completely panicked. He is seen sprinting away from danger, shouting, and even getting thrown onto the ground in a physical scuffle with another character.

New and Returning Casting Announcements
Alongside these new snaps, the BBC and Netflix officially dropped a massive casting update, revealing exactly who will be joining Heaton and Bell in 1950s Birmingham.
The New Peaky Blinders:
At the blood-soaked heart of the city’s new era are Duke Shelby’s Peaky Blinders. Joining the gang are Samuel Bottomley (California Schemin’) as Eliot, Arturo Muselli (Gomorrah) as Angelo, Eugene Collins (The Bay) as Frank, and Lucie Shorthouse (We Are Lady Parts) as Kezia Lee.
The Returning Legends:
Fans will be thrilled to hear that the spin-off isn’t leaving the old guard entirely behind. Ned Dennehy and Packy Lee are officially reprising their fan-favorite roles as Charlie Strong and Johnny Dogs, respectively, having survived both the original series and The Immortal Man.
The Rivals and the Law:
Every Shelby needs an enemy, and this time, it’s the Keeler gangster family. Game of Thrones alum Conleth Hill joins the cast as Clemmy Keeler, the fierce patriarch of a family rivaling the Peaky Blinders’ ambitions to rebuild the city. Cal O’Driscoll (Video Nasty) will play his son, Aidan Keeler. Meanwhile, Daniel Monks (All Her Fault) will be stepping in to represent the law as Detective Inspector Bell.
These new additions join previously announced heavy hitters Jessica Brown Findlay (Silo, Downton Abbey), Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die), and TV newcomer Lucy Karczewski. Details regarding their specific roles are being kept strictly under wraps for now.
Who is behind the camera?
Steven Knight remains the creator and writer of the series, ensuring the authentic Peaky voice remains intact. Directing duties will be handled by Mike Barker (The Testaments) and Anna Zackrisson (Detective Hole), with Tim Whitby (This Town) serving as producer.
The series is produced by Banijay UK companies Kudos and Garrison Drama.
When and where will it release?
The sequel project is confirmed to consist of two six-episode seasons (6 x 60 minutes). As with the original series, it will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One for viewers in the UK, and will stream globally on Netflix for the rest of the world. We’re expecting it to touch down sometime in 2027.
