Netflix is gearing up to begin filming in August 2026 for the upcoming spy-comedy film Spy Duo. Starring Kevin Hart and Henry Cavill, the pair will play rival undercover spies who are forced to work together when their wives become fast friends in their Lamaze class. Here’s everything we know so far about Spy Duo on Netflix.
Spy Duo is an upcoming Netflix Original spy-comedy film directed by McG (The Babysitter) and written by Lost City writers Aaron and Ada Nee and The Adam Project’s Jonathan Tropper. The script is based on a short story that was written by Sean Lewis.
Some huge names are attached as producers to this project, including 21 Laps Entertainment with Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Emily Morris; Maximum Effort with Ryan Reynolds; and lastly Hartbeat with Kevin Hart, Luke Kelly-Clyne, and Bryan Smiley.

“Concerns two rival spies who cross paths in a Lamaze class as their wives become fast friends. With their double lives colliding in unexpectedly hilarious and dangerous ways, the two men are forced to reluctantly become confidantes and partners on the road to fatherhood. “
Who are the cast members of Spy Duo?
So far, the only confirmed cast members for Spy Duo are Kevin Hart and Henry Cavill. Both actors have an extensive history with Netflix.
Kevin Hart has been one of Netflix’s most featured actors and, since 2021, has starred in 5 films for the streaming service: Fatherhood, The Man from Toronto, Me Time, Lift, and 72 Hours. Hart also played a leading role in Netflix’s True Story and lent his voice for an episode of Love, Death & Robots. Not to mention, several of his stand-up comedy specials are on Netflix, as are his appearances as the host of The Roast of Tom Brady and the recipient of his own roast, which is available exclusively on Netflix.

Henry Cavill has starred in a handful of Netflix projects, most notably playing Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher for 3 seasons and starring as Sherlock Holmes in all three Enola Holmes films. He also starred in the war-drama Sand Castle. Outside of Netflix, he is best known for playing Clark Kent, aka Superman, in the Snyderverse.

No other cast members have been confirmed at this time.
What is the production status of Spy Duo?
It has been reported in issue 1511 of Production Weekly that Spy Duo is set to begin filming in New Jersey sometime in August 2026. Filming is listed to conclude sometime in November 2026.
We expect full confirmation of a filming schedule soon. In the meantime, filming dates are subject to change.
When is Spy Duo coming to Netflix?
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmation of when Spy Duo will be released on Netflix.
Given the movie’s filming schedule, we would expect a release sometime in the second half of 2027.
