Kevin Hart’s sixth major feature film for Netflix, 72 Hours, is coming to Netflix on July 24, 2026. Hart is joined by cast members of SNL, Ben Marshall, Marcello Hernández, and Kam Patterson. Based on a true story, Hart plays Joe, a married father of three who, after mistakenly being included in an email chain for a bachelor party, joins the group for a wild 72 hours in Miami. Here’s everything we know about 72 Hours on Netflix.

72 Hours is an upcoming Netflix Original comedy film directed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four) and written by the creators of Cobra Kai and Obliterated, Hayden Schlossberg and Jon Hurwitz. Matt Mider (Gentlemen Lobsters), Kevin Burrows (The Pickup), and Nicholas Thomas (Let’s Be Cops) were also involved in the writing of the film.

The film is produced in partnership with Sony, alongside Kevin Hart’s production Hartbeat, Davis Entertainment, Counterbalance Entertainment, and Will Packer. Netflix has a fantastic ongoing working relationship with Sony, which not only provides Netflix with the first window of Sony’s theatrical slate in the USA and other regions, but also a first-look deal for direct-to-streaming films.

What is the plot of 72 Hours?

We have a detailed synopsis for the film:

“Based on a true story, 72 Hours follows Joe (set to be played by Kevin Hart), a married father of three who accidentally finds himself included in the email chain for a bachelor party being planned by a group of twenty-somethings from across the country. Amused and nostalgic for his own wild days, Joe keeps reading the emails, reminiscing about a time when life was more carefree. Eventually, he comes clean about the mistake—revealing who he is and that he wasn’t actually meant to be on the chain.

To his surprise, the group’s best man, Nick, responds by inviting him to join the trip for real. What Joe doesn’t know is that Nick has ulterior motives: he hopes Joe’s presence—and his settled, domestic life—will convince his best friend Mason to call off the wedding. But Nick’s plan quickly backfires, as Joe’s unexpected arrival profoundly impacts everyone involved, including Nick himself and the rest of the crew—Mason, Silverman, Castillo, and Ava—during 72 chaotic hours of debauchery in Miami.”
