Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1 Gets Post Production Update

As we now enter the Fall period and Wednesday soon enters the rearview mirror, Netflix will be ramping up promotions significantly for Stranger Things season 5, set to release over the course of three volumes throughout the remainder of the year, beginning in November. Just ahead of Labor Day in the United States, co-creator of the series Ross Duffer has provided a big post-production update on volume 1.

The news of post-production ending on volume 1 came via post on Instagram from Ross Duffer which also contained some additional teases about chapters three and four, which will round out volume 1, writing:

“Chapters Three and Four: locked, mixed, scored, colored… Volume One is DONE.

“The Turnbow Trap” is the most classic Stranger Things-y episode of the season. It’s got all our favorite things. Directed by one of our idols Frank Darabont (Shawshank! Green Mile! Walking Dead!) — who literally came out of retirement for this. He crushed it, obviously.

“Sorcerer” is MASSIVE — as big as any finale we’ve ever done, and the most logistically insane shoot of our lives. We’re still recovering.”

Accompanying the post are two snaps of the editing booth, featuring the episode titles. One for Chapter Three: The Turnbow Trap and Chapter Four: Sorcerer.

This update comes 28 days after we last got a post-production update, where Chapter One: The Crawl and Chapter Two: The Vanish of … were confirmed to have wrapped post-production with the following teases:

“Chapters One and Two: locked, mixed, scored, colored, DONE.

“The Crawl” is our favorite, most eventful first episode since Season 1.

“The Vanishing of…” (yeah yeah you think you know who blah blah) has by far the craziest cold open we’ve ever done. One of the sequences we’re most proud of this season.”

Of course, while the update was welcome, many fans are chomping at the bit and sharing their frustration that there’s still longer to wait. A popular fan account called dailyjonathanbyers said, “So you think this is FUNNY,” to which Ross Duffer responded with a shrug emoji.

With post-production complete, why do we still have to wait a few more months? Well, there’s still more to be done. While we assume most marketing materials are in the process of being made or are already

Netflix Stranger Things Merch Is Going Into Overdrive for Season 5

Elsewhere, while official marketing for the actual show has been relatively quiet since the teaser trailer dropped, fans and Netflix itself have been stocking up its store with merchandise ready for the big return.

Just this week, Netflix’s official store sent out a promotional email for the new season featuring a brand-new hoodie with “Season 5” written on it. As it stands, Netflix’s store stocks 247 individual Stranger Things products ranging from apparel, statues, collectables, posters, games, phone cases, and much more.

Fan accounts have also been cataloging some of the other merchandising efforts outside of Netflix’s own store, which have included some assets that could provide clues as to what will happen in season 5. For example, Hawkins Happenings posted just this weekend that some of the new merchandise seems to reveal the opening scene for episode 1, in addition to another piece of merchandise confirming a new monster set to debut in season 5 that fans are dubbing the “tree flayer.”

Expect to see Stranger Things tied into nearly everything, though, with newly released Eggos and chips (crisps) hitting the shelves with collaborations with Walkers, Lays, Doritos, and Pringles. That’s in addition to working with the lollypop company Chupa Chups and Chips Ahoy! It’s truly endless, to be honest, and Bradley’s Big Buy on X has been doing a grand job of tracking it all:

We’re expecting lots more Stranger Things goodness in the coming weeks as the release date draws ever closer. Stay tuned!
