Leaving Dec 1

Apollo 13

Based on the real events surrounding the Apollo 13 mission in 1970, Ron Howard perfectly blends drama and action with excellent acting performances from Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, Kevin Bacon, and Gary Sinise.

Disaster strikes when an oxygen tank explodes on the spacecraft of the Apollo 13 mission to the moon. NASA must devise a strategy to safely return the crew to Earth as technical problems and tensions amongst the crew threaten the astronauts’ survival.

Leaving Dec 1

Austin Powers Trilogy

Mike Myers has had some incredibly iconic characters, such as Shrek and Wayne Campbell, but arguably his most iconic is Austin Powers, the shagadelic British super spy, and of course, Dr. Evil.

Austin Powers, British playboy and superspy from the 1960s, emerges from a cryogenic chamber in the 1990s to thwart his nemesis, Dr. Evil.

Leaving Dec 1

Beverly Hills Cop Trilogy

Eddie Murphy dominated the comedy box office in the 1980s, starting with his iconic role of Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop, the wisecracking cop from Detroit.

Axel Foley, a Detroit cop, is in pursuit of his childhood best friend’s murderer and heads to Beverly Hills, California, where the LAPD is in for a culture shock. When he immediately finds himself at odds with the police chief, the odds are stacked against Foley, who is now in a race against time to solve the crime before he is booted back to Detroit.

Given that Netflix is home to the fourth movie exclusively, if you’re looking to do a run-through of all films under one roof, you’re quickly running out of time to do so.

Leaving Dec 1

Billy Madison

Adam Sandler’s roles as Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore inspired Sandler’s own production company, Happy Madison Productions. One of his most iconic performances, which plenty of millennials quote daily.

Billy Madison, the son of a billionaire, has been nothing but a slacker his entire life. But when his fed-up father considers passing Billy over to inherit the company for the ambitious Eric Gordon, Billy sets himself a challenge: to repeat and pass all of his school grades.

Leaving Dec 1

E.T. the Extra Terrestrial

Steven Spielberg has a legendary filmography, filled to the brim with films loved and watched by millions for decades. However, few films have been as impactful on pop culture as E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

When an alien is stranded on Earth, it befriends 10-year-old Elliott, who hides it at home. But when the Alien falls ill, the government discovers his existence, and their intervention threatens his life. It’s up to Elliott and his siblings to try and find a way home for “E.T.”

Leaving Dec 1

Edge of Tomorrow

Tom Cruise has been a leading figure in action films throughout his career, and one of his best films outside the Mission: Impossible franchise is Edge of Tomorrow. A perfect blend of time-loop shenanigans and non-stop action.

An alien invasion in Europe threatens to eradicate humanity. Major William Cage, who has no combat experience, is thrown onto the front line, where he dies instantly, only to wake up the day before. Thrust into a time loop, Cage must now work with Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski to find a way to end the time loop and save humanity from the alien invaders

Leaving Dec 1

Inglourious Basterds

Taking history into his hands, Quentin Tarantino adds his own unique flair to the war film genre. An Academy Award-winning performance from Christoph Waltz as the villainous Colonel Lans Hando is the standout star in the ensemble cast.

During the Nazi’s occupation of France during World War 2, Lt. Aldo Raine leads a daring mission behind enemy lines to assassinate the leaders of Nazi Germany. Unbeknownst to the Allied forces, the Jewish owner of a French cinema has her own plans for revenge.

Leaving Dec 1

Paddington

Who would have thought that a film centered on Britain’s most beloved bear would give birth to an incredible film franchise! Heartfelt and charming, Paddington is the perfect film to watch with the family. Ben Whishaw gives voice to the adorable Peruvian bear and stands out amongst a swath of huge Hollywood and British stars.

Paddington, a Peruvian bear with a love for marmalade sandwiches, travels to London in search of a home, where he meets the loving Brown family, who welcome him into their home.

Leaving Dec 1

Wonka

Gene Wilder, Johnny Depp, and now Timothée Chalamet have stepped into the shoes of Roald Dahl’s chocolatier, but this time we get the origin story of Willy Wonka, with Chalamet delivering a charming, whimsical performance. Aspiring chocolatier Willy Wonka has big dreams of opening his own candy store, but standing in his way is a cartel of greedy sweet makers determined to stamp out the competition.

You’ve had a very short window to watch Wonka on Netflix, given that it was added alongside a bunch of other Warner Bros. movies beginning on November 1st, so in other words, you’ve only had a month to catch it.

Leaving Dec 1

Escape Room

Six years ago, the horror movie Escape Room premiered in theaters and received some strong reviews, although it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Thanks to a unique concept and decent performances from its cast, including Taylor Russell, Logan Miller, Deborah Ann Woll, Jay Ellis, and Tyler Labine, it’s easy to recommend this thriller for a run-through, even though Halloween is in the distant rearview mirror.

Just a word of warning, though. As with all Sony Pictures movies, this one isn’t available on Netflix’s ad tier due to licensing restrictions. You’ll need to upgrade to Netflix’s premium tiers to watch it before its departure.
