At Jump Fest 2026 in Japan, the release date for Steel Ball Run was confirmed: fans will be able to watch the series on March 19, 2026. Steel Ball Run is the seventh arc of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure manga from author Hirohiko Araki. The series takes place after the events of Stone Ocean and is set in a brand new continuity that exists outside of the first six arcs. Its manga serialisation ran from January 19th, 2004, to April 19th, 2011, for a total of 95 chapters and 24 volumes. Steel Ball Run is one of the most beloved arcs of the entire franchise, and fans are super excited for its anime adaptation.
The upcoming anime adaptation will be co-directed by Yasuhiro Kimura (Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic) and Hideya Takahashi (Sword Art Online). The series director is Toshiyuki Kato, who has been involved in every season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. David Production is the animation studio behind the series.

What is the plot of Steel Ball Run?
Netflix has released a synopsis for the anime:
“STEEL BALL RUN is a story set in the 19th century and follows the first-ever cross-continental horse race across North America. The protagonist, Johnny Joestar, is a former genius jockey who became a paraplegic. He forms an alliance with Gyro Zeppeli, a mysterious outlaw, and the two embark on a grueling race across the continent together.”
