Darren Aronofsky is back with his first film since the Oscar-winning A24 movie The Whale. Hitting theaters on August 29th, Caught Stealing is expected to land on Netflix soon, depending on where you live.
Headlined by Austin Butler (Elvis) and Zoë Kravitz (The Batman) with an ensemble that includes the talents of Regina King, Matt Smith, Vincent D’Onofrio and Liev Schreiber to name but a few, the gritty new crime thriller with a splash of comedy follows an ex-baseball player finding himself in deep trouble after becoming embroiled in an elaborate criminal ring in New York City in the 1990s.
The film has been receiving positive reviews across the board, already carrying a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Among the glowing reviews included, Time Out referred to it as “decently entertaining,” while others like The Movie Minute praised Butler’s performance. Ty Burr for The Washington Post was more tempered in his review, saying, “Half the fun, no, all the fun, of Darren Aronofsky’s grubby, gritty New York crime thriller is playing Spot the Star,” adding later, “There are pleasures here, but you have to have the patience for them.”
When will Netflix US Stream Caught Stealing?
Thanks to a deal struck all the way back in 2021 between Netflix and Sony Pictures, we know that Caught Stealing will eventually be coming to Netflix. Netflix has what’s known as the first window, whereby a movie completes its theatrical run and then moves to PVOD, VOD, and finally Netflix.
Release dates for Sony movies on Netflix aren’t on an exact schedule, as they can arrive sooner or later, depending on several factors. For the most part, though, their movies arrive on Netflix roughly 120 days (or four months) following their theatrical release.
If Caught Stealing follows this 120-day window, it is expected to arrive on Netflix on December 27, 2025. As we’ve seen on occasion, however, some films have arrived significantly earlier, by up to a month, while a few have arrived later. Either way, we’re expecting the movie to be released either in late 2025 or very early 2026.
Once Netflix adds the movie in the United States, it’ll be available for 18 months before jumping over to Hulu/Disney+.

Will Netflix internationally stream Caught Stealing?
Yes, but most regions of Netflix don’t have a first window deal like the United States.
As we’ve covered before, India receives Sony movies around the same time as the US, with most other regions then picking up the films between 2-4 years after their initial theatrical release in varying windows. The United Kingdom, for instance, owns the second window for the Sony Pictures movie, so it’ll stream there sometime in early to mid-2027.
