Good news for fans of FOX’s hit medical drama! We’ve just learned that the highly anticipated second season of Doc is officially headed to Netflix in the United States on September 22nd.
In a perfectly timed strategic rollout, season 2 of the Sony Pictures Television and FOX Entertainment co-production will arrive on Netflix the exact same day that season 3 premieres on FOX (with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu).
As we’ve seen with several high-profile network licensing deals recently, this drop gives new viewers a prime chance to discover the hit medical drama, while offering existing fans the perfect opportunity to binge and catch up just as the new season kicks off on linear television.
If you’ve been following our coverage, you’ll know Doc has been a massive win for both FOX and Netflix. It ranked as the #1 scripted series on FOX during the 2024-25 broadcast season (Nielsen, L+7, W25-54). When season 1 first hit Netflix back in September 2025, it enjoyed a very strong run in the Netflix US Top 10. In its first tracked week alone, it clocked an impressive 13.6 million hours watched (equating to 1.9 million views) despite only being available in the US. It ultimately spent 14 days in the daily US top 10s and picked up 43.7M hours watched in the second half of 2025, equating to 6M views. In the first half of 2026, it picked up 9M viewing hours, equating to 1.2M views.
That performance led us to previously predict that season 2 would arrive exactly around this late-September window—and we love it when our intel is on the money!
For those who need a quick refresher, Doc centers on the brilliant Dr. Amy Larsen. In season 2, Amy continues the arduous journey of rebuilding both her career and her personal life while navigating the lasting impact of a traumatic brain injury that erased eight years of her memories. As new medical cases, evolving relationships, and unexpected challenges test the staff at Westside Hospital, Amy must continue redefining who she is—both as a physician and as a person.
The series is anchored by Molly Parker (House of Cards, Lost in Space), who leads a stellar returning cast that includes Omar Metwally, Amirah Vann, Jon Ecker, Anya Banerjee, Patrick Walker, and Charlotte Fountain-Jardim.
You’re getting plenty to binge this time around, too. While season 1 was a tight 10 episodes, season 2 is substantially larger, coming in at 22 episodes. It also brings some exciting new blood to Westside Hospital, with Emmy Award winner Felicity Huffman joining the cast as Dr. Joan Ridley, while Emma Pfitzer Price recurs as Hannah. Behind the camera, Barbie Kligman and Hank Steinberg serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. The EP team is rounded out by Erwin Stoff, Russell Fine, John Weber, Frank Siracusa, Carol Barbee, and David Foster.
For those who might not know the show’s origins, Doc is actually based on the acclaimed Italian format Doc – Nelle tue mani, which was created and produced by Lux Vide (a Fremantle company). The US adaptation is produced by Sony Pictures Television and FOX Entertainment.
Will Doc Season 2 stream globally?
As with the first season, it appears this licensing deal is strictly for Netflix in the United States. Sony Pictures Television, the ultimate distributor of the show, has made a habit of licensing its major network series strictly to the US Netflix library recently (you might remember similar deals for FOX’s Krapopolis and Grimsburg last year). If you’re outside the US, you’ll have to look to your local broadcasters to see where Doc is streaming.
