Geek Girl has been renewed for a second season despite initially being considered a limited series at the streamer. Production is set to get underway on season 2 this Summer in the United Kingdom with a planned 2026 return.

Created by Holly Smale and Jessica Ruston, Geek Girl season 1 was released globally, except in Canada, on May 30, 2024. It was later released on Netflix in Canada the following November after an exclusive period with Corus. The series, which adapts the novels by Holly Smale, picked up a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes upon its release and follows awkward teenager Harriet Manners, who takes an unexpected journey into becoming a professional model in high fashion.

The first season entered the Netflix top 10 in 90 countries in the weeks following its release, with the series performing best in countries such as Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands. It also spent four weeks in the global top 10s, accumulating 94.20 million viewing hours globally, equivalent to 16.80 million views. Throughout the entirety of 2024, the series garnered 158.30 million hours watched, equivalent to 28.10 million views.

Declan O’Dwyer (Miss Scarlet, Wire in the Blood), who directed all episodes of season 1, will continue directing duties in season 2 with the writing team including Holly Smale, Sameera Steward, Sally O’Leary, Grace Link, and Sophie Wu.

In a statement, Zoë Rocha, who serves as showrunner and RubyRock’s creative director, said, “I am beyond excited that Geek Girl has been recommissioned for a second season by Netflix. The amazing audience reaction to Season One was truly incredible and we can’t wait to bring this next chapter to life. I’m thrilled to be working with Holly and Emily again, and that Boat Rocker has come onboard, to continue to build and expand the fabulous Geek Girl universe. Let’s see what magic Harriet Manners can sprinkle on to the fashion world this time round.”

In addition to the above, Emily Carey and Liam Woodrum have been confirmed to be returning as Harriet Manners and Nick Park in season 2, with the duo posing in front of the fictional Infinity Models London sign in a new picture released to celebrate the season 2 renewal:

RubyRock Pictures is producing the show alongside Boat Rocker, which has acquired the rights from Corus. They will have global distribution for both seasons and manage the franchise.

Executive producers on season 2 include Zoë Rocha and Robbie von Werz for RubyRock Pictures with Holly Smale and Jessica Ruston; Jeff Norton; Declan O’Dwyer; David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Nick Nantell, and Jon Rutherford for Boat Rocker.
