Horton, Sneetches & More: Netflix’s Dr. Seuss Universe Sets Release Dates & Unveils New First Looks

Red Fish, Blue Fish, Horton! and The Sneetches are heading to Netflix between September and November 2025.

First unveiled to be in the works all the way back in March 2022 with an official unveiling at Annecy Film Festival earlier this year, Netflix has lifted the lid on its three Dr. Seuss adaptations now confirmed for release throughout the Fall of 2025. 

At Annecy Film Festival, all three titles were previewed to audiences in a packed tent, with Heather Tilert presenting first look footage at the new colorful titles. “Dr. Seuss characters are loved all over the world, so we’re very excited to be the home of this entire lineup,” Tilert said to the audience. Of course, we’ve since gotten first looks for Red Fish, Blue Fish, but the other titles have been under lock and key. That’s until today! 

With the fresh new release dates and first looks, here’s a look at the three new Dr. Seuss adaptations coming to Netflix, beginning with the poster for the three titles:

September 8th

Dr. Seuss’s Red Fish, Blue Fish

First up is Red Fish, Blue Fish, based on the book released in 1960, that follows the adventures of an odd couple of two fish friends as they explore and introduce opposite concepts. The series consists of five 25-minute episodes and is executive produced, directed, and developed by Dustin Ferrer (Dora and Friends: Into the City!) and Steven Conner (Esme & Roy). Becky Friedman (Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood) serves as showrunner, with writing by Alec Nielson (Alma’s Way) and Kevin Del Aguila (Wallykazam!).

Music for the series features songs by Rob Cantor (Tally Hall, The Goo Night Show) and a score by composer Vidjay Beerepoot (Mighty Little Bheem). The show is animated by Atomic Cartoons (The Last Kids on Earth, Molly of Denali) and features the voices of Brian Drummond (Dragon Ball Z, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic) as Red, Andrea Libman (My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Strawberry Shortcake) as Blue, and Naomi Tan (Firebuds) as the Narrator.

The first episode of this particular series can be watched right now via the Summer Playlist on Netflix (expected removal August 14th)

October 6th

Dr. Seuss’s Horton!

Horton follows the whimsical adventures of a young Horton and his best bud Samson as they go on adventures to help the citizens of the Jungle of Nool. The series premieres on October 6, 2025, and includes seven 21-minute episodes.

It is executive-produced and developed by Dustin Ferrer and Becky Friedman, with Ferrer also serving as showrunner. The animation is handled by Brown Bag Films (Bluey, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood). The voice cast features Ethan Monaghan as Horton, Max Mittelman (One Punch Man, Miraculous) as Samson, and Kitana Turnbull (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Spirit Riding Free: Riding Academy) as Jane Kangaroo.

November 3rd

Dr. Seuss’s The Sneetches

Sneetches is a 45-minute animated special premiering on November 3, 2025, that tells the story of the Star-Belly Sneetches and Moon-Belly Sneetches, who once lived together in harmony, until they decided their differences were too great. But when Stella, a Star-Belly, meets Pearl, a Moon-Belly, the two discover that Sneetches are Sneetches, and no one kind is best on the beaches.

The special is executive produced, developed, and showrun by Dustin Ferrer, directed by Bronagh O’Hanlon (Doc McStuffins), with songs by Rob Cantor and music composed by Gregory Nicolett (Spirit Rangers). Animation is provided by Brown Bag Films. The voice cast includes Amari McCoy (Ada Twist, Scientist) as Stella, Sophie Petersen as Pearl, and Christopher Fitzgerald (BoJack Horseman, Waitress) as Pelican.
