NASA’s Artemis II mission is officially underway, and while Netflix didn’t carry the live feed of the historic Earth departure on April 1st, space enthusiasts are in for a massive consolation prize. Netflix and NASA has just confirmed it will be livestreaming the highly anticipated lunar flyby alongside the myriad of other streaming platforms.
If you haven’t been keeping your eyes glued to the news (or NASA’s official YouTube channel) this week, humanity is officially heading back to the Moon. On April 1, 2026, the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket lifted off from Kennedy Space Center, carrying four astronauts—NASA’s Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and the Canadian Space Agency’s Jeremy Hansen—inside the Orion spacecraft.
While the launch itself was broadcast across various traditional and digital platforms, Netflix noticeably sat out the liftoff portion of the 10-day journey. However, as the crew currently speeds past the halfway point between Earth and the Moon, the streamer is gearing up to host the absolute climax of the mission. A NASA representative confirmed the Netflix stream, along with a new notice on the official NASA+ Live on Netflix page.

As we previously reported, Netflix struck a deal with NASA last Summer to bring NASA+ to Netflix, though the results have been disappointing so far. To date, there’s actually only been a single stream, on July 31st, and nothing since.
You would’ve thought the Artemis II launch would’ve been a prime time to get in on the action, given that livestreams across other platforms hit hundreds of thousands of concurrent viewers, and even as I type this today, the official feed is sitting in the mid tens of thousands. Nevertheless, we are now getting a live stream covering the mission.
What to Expect from the Lunar Flyby Livestream
The Artemis II mission marks the first time humans have traveled to the Moon since the Apollo 17 mission back in 1972. Right now, the Orion spacecraft is hurtling toward the lunar surface.
When the spacecraft finally makes its closest approach, it will slingshot around the far side of the Moon (the furthest humans have ever traveled before), utilizing lunar gravity to propel the crew back toward Earth (ahead of their scheduled splashdown in the Pacific Ocean later this week on April 10). Netflix will tap directly into NASA’s official broadcast to stream this breathtaking flyby live to millions of subscribers around the globe.
