Get your smartphones charged and your wittiest friends gathered. Netflix is bringing the ultimate couch-party experience to its gaming lineup with the release of The Jackbox Party Essentials, currently scheduled to arrive globally on April 7th, 2026.

As Netflix continues to aggressively expand its gaming library—which remains completely free to all subscribers with no ads or in-app purchases—they are making a massive play for living room supremacy. While much of the Netflix Games catalog has focused on mobile-first titles like GTA: The Trilogy or Hades, The Jackbox Party Essentials marks a significant pivot toward multiplayer, big-screen entertainment.

If you aren’t familiar with the Jackbox phenomenon, it has revolutionized the party game genre. The genius of the franchise lies in its accessibility: you don’t need a pile of expensive controllers to play. The game itself runs on your screen (in this case, via the Netflix app), while players use their own smartphones, tablets, or computers as their controllers by simply navigating to a web browser and entering a room code.

So, what exactly is included in The Jackbox Party Essentials? Based on the promotional key art released today, this custom Netflix bundle strips away the filler and delivers a powerhouse trio of the developer’s most beloved franchises.

Here is what you’ll be playing when the bundle drops this April:

  • Fibbage 4: The latest iteration of the hilarious bluffing game. Players are presented with obscure trivia facts, missing a keyword or phrase. You write a convincing lie to fill in the blank, hoping to trick your friends into selecting your fake answer, while trying to guess the actual truth yourself. (Part of Party Pack 9)
  • Drawful 2: A true classic of terrible art. Players are given bizarre, often incredibly difficult prompts to draw on their mobile devices (think “creepy outhouse” or “two halves of a horse”). Everyone else then tries to guess what the prompt originally was based on your wildly inadequate sketch.
  • Quiplash 3: The head-to-head battle of the wits. Players receive comedic prompts and must type out their funniest responses. The answers are then pitted against each other on screen, and the rest of the room votes on which one made them laugh the hardest. (Part of The Jackbox Party Starter)

It’s unclear currently whether more games will be part of the package. Some of my favorites from other packs that I’ve played include Quixort and Patently Stupid.

This is just the latest expansion into living-room party games, since Netflix has been pulling back on its mobile game output. Late last year, we saw the launch of titles like Boggle and Tetris as part of its initial lineup, which was later joined by a Knives Out tie-in and, most recently, the arrival of Overcooked!.

Not to toot our own horn too much, but you may remember back in December 2021, we posted that following the launch of Netflix Games, JackBox Games would be the perfect acquisition for the streamer, given that we thought party games made a natural jump. It took nearly five years, and while it’s not an acquisition, I do take this as a win.

The Jackbox Party Essentials will be playable directly on supported smart TVs and streaming devices starting Tuesday, April 7th, 2026 with your phone being used as your controller.

We suspect we’ll be getting more information about the drop imminently and will update you once we do.
