Netflix’s licensing spree continues in November 2025, as we can confirm that Minx, the comedy series that originated on HBO Max before moving to Starz and subsequently being canceled, will find a new home on Netflix in the United States.

Set to arrive on November 4th, the series was created by Ellen Rapoport, with the story focusing on a young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher to make the first erotic magazine for women in sunny Los Angeles during the 1970s.

It was amongst the first crop of HBO Max Original series, but sadly, the streamer opted out of future seasons whilst season 2 was in production. Starz stepped in to save the day and released both seasons 1 and 2, although a third season was eventually ruled out. The series has and continues to stream exclusively on Starz, although that changes beginning in November.

The series is critically acclaimed by critics, with both seasons holding certified fresh ratings on Rotten Tomatoes; the first season has a rating of 98%, while the second season is slightly lower at 89%. Audience scores are a bit more diverse, however, with it carrying a 54% on RT but fares much better on IMDb with a 7.6/10.

Note: We do not have confirmation which seasons are coming to Netflix, but we suspect it’ll be both seasons 1 and 2. As soon as we know, we’ll keep you posted. Only Netflix US is currently expected to pick up the show.

Who stars in Minx?

  • Ophelia Lovibond (Guardians of the Galaxy, Elementary) as Joyce Prigger
  • Jake Johnson (New Girl, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) as Doug Renetti
  • Idara Victor (Rizzoli & Isles, Turn: Washington’s Spies) as Tina
  • Jessica Lowe (Wrecked, Blended) as Bambi
  • Lennon Parham (Playing House, Bless This Mess) as Shelly
  • Oscar Montoya (Loot, Final Space) as Richie
  • Michael Angarano (This Is Us, Sky High) as Glenn
  • Rich Sommer (Mad Men, GLOW) as Lenny
  • Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds, Big) as Constance
  • Taylor Zakhar Perez (The Kissing Booth 2, Red White & Royal Blue) as Shane Brody

The show also featured lots of guest stars over the course of its two seasons. Some of the biggest names across the two seasons included Gillian Jacobs (Community), Hope Davis (Succession), Allison Tolman (Fargo), Samantha Sloyan (The Haunting of Hill House), Josh Stamberg (WandaVision), and David Paymer (Mr. Saturday Night).

This is just the latest in a slew of pickups from Lionsgate Television in recent months. The biggest pick-up was undoubtedly the first season of The Hunting Wives in the US, which went on to score a season 2 renewal and will begin appearing on Netflix internationally starting October 9th in select regions. Netflix also has licensed Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist in international territories, plus picked Hightown, Love Life, Spartacus, and Nurse Jackie, among others, in the United States.

If you’re getting hopeful that Netflix might step in and pick up Minx for a season 3, chances of that happening are pretty remote. It’d need to come in with a barn-busting performance to get any potential continuation talks underway.
