Since announcing their creative partnership in 2023, Netflix and Yash Raj Films have been on a roll. The limited series The Railway Men and the feature legal drama Maharaj scored good ratings with subscribers while also racking up multiple awards nominations.

Now Netflix and YRF Entertainment — the studio’s streaming arm — are back with another gripping series: Mandala Murders. A mandala is a spiritual symbol in Hinduism and other Eastern religions, so the title hints at a crime series with a mystical vibe. Netflix calls this new show “a first-of-its-kind mythological-crime thriller that promises to pull audiences into a world where every clue leads deeper into a long-buried prophecy.”

Mandala Murders marks the streaming series debut for movie star Vaani Kapoor, who plays the lead detective investigating the sinister killings. Kapoor says the series: “immerses you in a world where every character’s motive is a mystery, every symbol holds a secret.”

The series is created by Gopi Puthran, who wrote the woman-led crime films Mardaani and Mardaani 2 for YRF, also directing the second film. Puthran shares co-director credits on Mandala Murders with Manan Rawat, director of the horror TV series Ek Deewaana Tha.
