It’s now been well over a year since Netflix announced that Supacell, which premiered in the summer of 2024, would be returning for a second season. It’s now confirmed that season 2 is finally in production after a couple of setbacks. Here’s the latest on everything we know about the new season.
Created by Rapman, the British superhero series spent six weeks in Netflix’s global Top 10 and earned widespread critical acclaim, even boasting a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes during its run. Given this strong performance and praise for its originality and representation of Black British life, it’s no surprise Netflix gave the green light for Season 2. Creator Rapman has always envisioned Supacell as a multi-season story (he’s said he has a three-season arc in mind), so the renewal was a welcome confirmation.
We’ve got more coverage of the renewal itself and the show’s performance in our August 2024 renewal report. Season 2 is expected to consist of 6 new episodes.
Where is Supacell season 2 in production?
It’s taken a while, but production on season 2 began in October 2025. As we’ve been covering, the series has faced several postponements. As we’ve covered, initial plans had shooting starting in early 2025, but those plans slipped to summer 2025 and then got pushed again.
That’s taken nearly a year to get into production, after Rapman discussed the show’s future and provided an update in November 2024 to Deadline, stating that the scripts were nearing completion. “What I can tell you is that Season 2 is crazy,” the creator of the show said, adding, “The writers’ room is all done, this season is just crazy.”
Rapman finally confirmed on October 6th that the series was back in production. He shared a script from a table read and confirmed that filming had begun. In the caption of the Instagram post, Rapman wrote:
“Sorry to anybody who’s been waiting.
Supacell season 2 is currently .
I PROMISE it will be worth the wait “

We don’t currently have any intel on when the new season will wrap, but it’s safe to say it’ll run through to the end of 2025 at the very least. What does this mean for a release date? Well, it certainly rules out a 2025 return, and instead, we’d expect a mid-to-late 2026 window to be the most likely for any release date.
What to Expect From Supacell Season 2
Starting with Rapman’s own words, he’s teased, “Supacell Season 1 is my Batman Begins. It’s a prequel of what they’ll be like. Season 2 is when you really see what they become. That future you saw at the end of the pilot in London, that exact future doesn’t exist anymore. They’ve changed everything. It’s going to be interesting when we get into the writers’ room.”
Rapman has also teased from season 2, “It gets dark, that’s all I can say! It gets really, really dark. If you followed season 1 and you saw how things ended, the emotions are just… everything’s running higher now.”
Supacell Season 1 ended on a dramatic cliffhanger, setting the stage for a high-stakes Season 2. In the finale, Michael failed in his desperate attempt to save his girlfriend Dionne from her foreseen death – the last we saw of Dionne, shots were fired at her car, leaving her fate uncertain. A grief-stricken Michael then rallied the rest of the group at Club Onyx and announced a bold plan: he’s going to travel to the future to get answers and make everyone responsible for their pain pay for what they’ve done. Meanwhile, within the mysterious Organization hunting them, a power shift occurred. The superpowered enforcer Krazy was found alive but promptly executed by Veronica for failing her; Veronica then coldly told her partner, Ray, that he had let her down too, and that from now on they would do things her way.
In other words, Veronica has seized control as the big bad, and she’s likely to be even more ruthless in Season 2. All these threads, Dionne’s survival, Michael’s mission of vengeance, and Veronica’s tightening grip on the Organization, leave Supacell set up for a dramatic new season.

So what might Season 2 focus on? Based on those cliffhangers and some hints from the creators, we can expect a darker and more intense chapter ahead. Rapman has teased that Season 2 “gets really, really dark” in terms of tone, implying that the fallout from Season 1’s events will push our heroes into even more serious territory. Michael, in particular, could be a changed man: actor Tosin Cole noted that by the end of Season 1, Michael seemed “a bit darker” and driven by revenge, and Cole is interested in exploring how that vengeance will shape his journey going forward.
With Michael planning to use his powers to time-travel for answers, we might see him wrestle with how far he’s willing to go to save the people he loves and stop the villains. Veronica, now revealed as the puppet master, will likely emerge as the main antagonist, consolidating her control and enacting her agenda – expect her conflict with Michael’s group to escalate now that she’s calling the shots. We also shouldn’t forget the Season 1 post-credits stinger: it revealed that Sabrina’s sister Sharleen (and another character, Jasmine) were still alive and being held captive at a facility in South London.
In other words, the training wheels are coming off; we’ll see our fledgling heroes truly come into their own, for better or worse. With the timeline already altered by Michael’s actions, there may also be unpredictable consequences in play. All told, fans can brace for a sequel season with higher stakes, new mysteries (like the true motives of the Organization), and the characters we’ve come to love (and hate) heading toward an epic showdown.
No word on new or returning cast members yet. The RadioTimes has previously speculated on the following returns, however:
- Tosin Cole as Michael Lasaki
- Yasmin Monet Prince as Veronica
- Eddie Marsan as Ray
- Nadine Mills as Sabrina
- Eric Kofi-Abrefa as Andre
- Calvin Demba as Rodney
- Josh Tedeku as Josh
- Rayxia Ojo as Sharleen
- Giacomo Mancini as Spud
- Michael Salami as Gabriel
- Travis Jay as John
We should also know that Rapman also got announced to be attached to another Netflix project in June 2025, with Deadline reporting that the actor and creator is set to direct a new crime biopic titled The Council for Netflix.
