In another major surprise for C-drama fans around the globe, Netflix has officially scooped up the international streaming rights to the fantasy-wuxia epic Veil of Shadows, with some of the early episodes now streaming. Originally slated as a YOUKU exclusive, the sprawling 29-episode series is now set to hit Netflix over the next few weeks and months.
Over the past few years, Netflix has been quietly expanding its library of licensed Chinese dramas, finding massive global success with titles like Hidden Love, Falling Into Your Smile, and The Untamed. Some of the 2026 pickups have included Pursuit of Jade and Unveil: Jadewind, and that’s just on the licensed side of things; it also has its own Chinese-language slate of Originals coming up.
Here is everything we know about Veil of Shadows now on Netflix in the United States and other select regions around the world.
Episodes 1-5 are streaming as of the time of publishing, with Netflix noting that episodes 6 and 7 are also due out today, with new episodes coming throughout this week and throughout the rest of the month. Netflix is only streaming the original Mandarin audio with a slew of subtitle options, including English.

Disguised as a priest, she enters Wei Manor in Luo’an and discovers that others are also hunting Xiao Wei. Among them are Wu Shi Guang, a vengeful demon; Wu Wang Yan, her cunning nine-tailed fox sister; and Ji Ling, an innocent-looking priest with a mysterious past.
All of them seek the Dragon Deity’s power, but their motives vary: some want to protect, others to kill. As they navigate battles, friendships, and romance, they face obstacles and make sacrifices to protect peace and change their fates.”
