We’re now 175 days from the return of Knives Out on our screens, with the return of Daniel Craig as the famous detective Benoit Blanc, who will feature alongside a stunning ensemble cast. Dribs and drabs have been slowly released about the new movie, and now we know its official runtime!

As a reminder on the runtimes of the prior movies:

  • Knives Out (2019) – 2 hours 10 minutes (130 minutes)
  • Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) – 2 hours 19 minutes (139 minutes)

Now, we can reveal that the third movie will have a runtime of 2 hours and 24 minutes (144 minutes) in total. That’s an 11% increase in time from the first movie and nearly 4% on the second.

The news of the movie’s runtime follows an additional first look teaser released through Netflix’s TUDUM, which confirmed the film’s release date and included a few more frames from the upcoming movie.

At TUDUM 2025, Rian Johnson introduced Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery in a skit sequence, which host Sofia Carson kicked off. “The thing we try to do, what we strive for with them, is to keep the audience guessing. It’s really important to figure out new ways, every time, so that just when you think you’ve figured it out, a new twist comes along you weren’t expecting. And that’s what makes these movies special.”

“That’s where you’re wrong.” Josh Brolin interjected, followed by multiple more twists with other cast members from the ensemble popping up. Mila Kunis from the crowd, Kaylee Spaney jumping in, and then Kerry Washington flinging shirts with a T-shirt cannon, and Jeremy Renner upping the ante with two T-shirt cannons. Darren McCormick jumped in on the action, as did Glenn Close via video link, and eventually Daniel Craig introduced the new clip revealing the release date:

Another piece of information we’re still waiting for is the official age rating. Both prior entries had PG-13 ratings in the US and 12A in the UK, but with the promise of the third movie being a little darker, will that be upped to R? We’ll keep our eyes peeled in the coming weeks.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery arrives on Netflix globally on December 12th, 2025.
