It’s time for another top 10 report diving into all the top 40 figures Netflix just dropped for the week ending December 14th—honestly, not many good stories this week, with many titles underperforming expectations. Man vs Baby is one of the only exceptions.
As always, let’s begin with the weekly rankings dating back to mid-2023. The past couple of weeks have been the best in the top 10s for English TV since these records began, so will it continue that streak?
English TV – 80,800,000 (Rank 6 of 130 weeks)
English Film – 83,300,000 (Rank 42 of 130 weeks)
Non-English TV – 30,900,000 (Rank 45 of 130 weeks)
Non-English Film – 22,100,000 (Rank 113 of 130 weeks)
Now, let’s get into the big stories:
1. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery debuts below Glass Onion
Picture: Netflix
One of the year’s biggest heavy hitters just dropped, and it’s received a lukewarm reception thus far, even though the reviews are superb.
The third Knives Out instalment, coming two years after Glass Onion, debuted to 49.2M hours watched on Netflix globally, equating to 20.2M views in its first three days (Friday to Sunday). Glass Onion notably debuted much higher, albeit it was released on December 23rd, 2023, on a Saturday, likely giving it a holiday boost. It debuted with 35M views.

Where does that performance stack up against other 2025 movie premieres? Roughly middle of the pack, with it coming in just below The Woman in Cabin 10 and just above La Dolce Villa. Netflix might’ve hoped for a little more out of this one, but we’ll see how it tracks in the weeks to come. Did everyone heed Rian Johnson’s advice and actually watch in the cinemas? What would this have gotten if it hadn’t premiered in limited theaters?

Rowan Atkinson was back in a smaller limited series package with a Christmas spin on it, and that’s paid dividends with a debut of 19.1M views. That, believe it or not, puts it up amongst the best performers for new series debuts of the year for Netflix, albeit that smaller 4-episode runtime aids it. Let’s stack it up against some other premieres in 2025, plus some other British titles from the past few years.

How about compared to Man vs Bee? Well, you can’t do an exact 1:1 comparison here, given that Baby was released on a Thursday and Bee was released on a Friday (meaning Baby has had an extra day), but here’s how the chart looks so far compared to the 9.7M views Bee picked up back in June 2022.

3. The Abandons Season 2 In Cancelation Territory
Last week, we noted how The Abandons, the troubled Western series got off to a slow start in the top 10s and while it did see a slight rise in its first full week on Netflix of around 4%, the show is still lagging behind many of its renewed counterparts and swimming right amongst some of the cancelations for 2025 including The Residence, Boots, and PULSE.

4. Sean Combs: The Reckoning is one of Netflix’s biggest documentaries ever
The documentary series on P. Diddy has been doing well for Netflix, perhaps expectedly, and the ensuing legal drama and press mudslinging have only bolstered its position. The series was already the biggest (by quite some margin) docu-series launched on a Tuesday, and it looks like it may become one of the most-watched in Netflix’s history. As of week 2, the docuseries is not sitting at 164M hours watched and 39.7M views. Sadly, the one we really want to compare against is The Tiger King, but that dropped before these weekly charts became available.

5. Record of Ragnarok Keeps Growing
Anime is popular. We knew that already, right? But Record of Ragnarok continues to deliver strong performances season over season, with season 3 debuting with the largest number of views in its opening days on Netflix so far albeit if you consider season 2 debuted a day earlier, it’s probably about on par if not a little bit lower.

6. The Accident’s First Season Popularity May Have Been An Accident
Picture: Netflix
Cast your mind back to last Summer, and this little Mexican series became one of the biggest international shows of the year, thanks in part to its absurd plot, which gained traction on social media. Sadly, the same can’t be said about season 2, which, even with an extra day and fewer episodes working in its favor, debuted to over half the viewership. It’s a shame, especially since I question why they didn’t run a marketing campaign for this at all, leaning into the absurdity and virality of seasons 1 and up, and upping the ante. Missed opportunity.

7. Blood Coast Also Sees Slashing of Over Half the Viewership
Blood Coast is also back two years later, with season 2 dropping last Tuesday (season 1 notably released on a Wednesday, so it had less time to pick up views), but that hasn’t stopped viewership from falling off here either: season 2 debuted to 2.1M views, compared to 5.6M for season 1.

The Netflix Christmas 2025 Rom-Com Battle
Netflix had four major new rom-coms for the holiday season, and it looks like the biggest hit was saved until last. While My Secret Santa trailed Champagne Problems in the opening first week, the Alexandra Breckenridge holiday movie is quickly catching up, with only 600K views between the two as of week 2.

Stranger Things S5
Last week, we got some pushback on our chart on Stranger Things comparing hours between seasons 4 and 5 because they’re not like-for-like comparisons. While that’s true to an extent, season 4 launched with seven episodes compared to season 5, which launched with 4. We don’t really have many other apt ways to make comparisons season over season until around April 2026, when the 91-day stat will be finalized. Until then, here’s how the hourly chart is shaping up with season 5 seeing a 52% drop again this week.

It’s now up to its 26th week straight in the weekly top 10s, with its total hour count at 827.9M and its views close to half a billion at 496.4M. It’s never seen a drop above 20% in viewing hours since its debut, with the most significant drop being 17% last week.
