September 2026 is set up to be another busy month at Netflix, with new releases ranging from forgotten gems to returning favorites to all-new series and more. Here are 8 must-watch series to check out.
We’re about to enter the fall season, and Netflix has a gluttony of big series on the horizon to binge. The streamer has a particularly wide-ranging slate coming in September: there’s Crew Girl for fans of teen romance; Monster: The Lizzy Borden Story for true crime lovers; the return of a Stranger Things spinoff; and plenty of others.

The Gentlemen (Season 2)
Coming to Netflix: September 3
The Gentlemen are back in business, folks. From Guy Ritchie, the new season sees Eddie and Susie take their criminal enterprise international, switching out the English countryside for Italian lakes — and contending with Italian crime boss Marco Moretti (Sergio Castellitto).
The 8-episode second season marks the return of the main cast, including Theo James (Eddie), Kaya Scodelario (Susie), Daniel Ings (Freddie), and Ray Winstone (Bobby). Joining the cast are Hugh Bonneville (I Came By), Benjamin Clementine (Dune), Benedetta Porcaroli (The Leopard), Amra Mallassi (Dune: Part Two), and Tyler Conti (Safe). British boxer Chris Eubank Jr. is also involved.
DANG!

Coming to Netflix: September 8
Created by Andrew Law and Matt Murray, alongside executive producer Mike Schur (The Good Place), adult animated comedy DANG! takes place in New York City, where siblings Andrew and Eunice’s lives are turned upside down when their high-achieving older elder Ruthie blows up her life and comes to hang out. In other words, it’s the ultimate messy sibling dynamic.
The 8-episode series has some serious talent behind it. There’s Mike Shur, who’s known for The Good Place and Parks and Recreation. Additionally, executive producer Alan Yang also worked on Parks and Recreation as well as Master of None.
The voice cast is headlined by Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Joy Ride), Poppy Liu (Hacks, The Afterparty), and Andrew Law (The Good Place, Hacks).
Crew Girl

Coming to Netflix: September 10
From executive producer Jeff Norton, who ushered in Netflix’s hit Finding Her Edge earlier this year, comes Crew Girl — a series that switches out ice skates for rowing oars. But the tension, competitive nature, and fierce love triangles go absolutely nowhere.
In Crew Girl, we follow teenage rowing prodigy Teagan Tao (Miku Martineau) whose life is upended by a family scandal, in which her father goes on the run from authorities after dodgy business dealings. Teagan is forced to relocate to a high-brow prep school where there’s no girl’s rowing team. In order for her to keep up her training, she joins the boys’ crew as their coxswain. And there she has complicated relationships with the crew, including the arrogant, selfish team captain, Josh (Samuel Braun), and the local boy, Cam (Kyle Clark), who is the underrated MVP of the team.
The Doll

Coming to Netflix: September 16
Coming out of Netflix Poland, The Doll is a modern retelling of the classic Polish novel by Bolesław Prus. The novel is widely regarded as one of the single greatest Polish novels ever written. It’s a true epic, covering everything from business and trade, to war and romance. Set during the late 19th-century, it chronicles the failed Polish January Uprising of 1863.
The official logline reads: “Driven by fierce ambition, Stanisław is determined to climb the social ladder, and his obsessive infatuation with Izabela becomes a gateway to the world he longs to conquer. Izabela, in turn, strives to break free from the rigid confines of aristocratic order and define her own place in a rapidly changing society. The powerful bond between them is suspended between a deep class divide, obsession, a longing for freedom and the seductive power of wealth.“
The series is headlined by Sandra Drzymalska (EO, Sexify) as lead Izabela, and Tomasz Schuchardt (Home Sweet Home, High Water) as Stanisław Wokulski.
Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story
Coming to Netflix: September 17
From creator Ryan Murphy, Netflix’s ongoing Monster anthology series has been among the streamer’s biggest hits over the years. The first season, The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, is still Netflix’s sixth biggest series ever. It continued in 2024 with Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, and then returned in 2025 with Monster: The Ed Gein Story. This September, the series takes viewers back to the Victorian era, chronicling the story of Lizzie Borden (Ella Beatty), who was accused of brutally killing her parents with an axe. The murder shocked the nation, and the subsequent trail found Borden to be not guilty.
The series also stars Rebecca Hall as Abby Borden, Vicky Krieps as Bridget Sullivan, Charlie Hunnam as Andrew Borden, Billie Lourd as Emma Borden, Jessica Barden as Nance O’Neil, and Sarah Paulson as Aileen Wuornos.
Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 (Season 2)

Coming to Netflix: September 17
Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s all-time successes. Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, the series wrapped up its fifth and final season in late 2025. Since then, the Duffers have moved onto other projects, including Something Very Bad is Going to Happen and The Boroughs. But naturally, the Stranger Things franchise continues through spin-offs. The Duffers served as executive producers on the first spin-off, Tales From ’85, which chronicles untold events from Hawkins, taking place between Seasons 2 and 3 of the main show.
Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Season 1 debuted back in April. While it didn’t blow fans away, it was a solid outing and a worthy return to Hawkins. Season 2 takes place just before Valentine’s Day, when mysterious apparitions and a swarm of hate sprites are wreaking havoc around Hawkins. Check out our full preview here.
Party Down (Seasons 1-3)
Coming to Netflix: September 22
Licensed series
Before he starred in Severance and Parks and Recreation, Hollywood star Adam Scott headlined hilarious workplace sitcom Party Down, a series about a group of caterers working in a Los Angeles-based company called ‘Party Down’. They balance catering gigs as they juggle with their lives, relationships, and hopes to make it in Hollywood. Each episode sees them working a different catering event — some weirder and more bizarre than others.
Party Down first aired way back in 2009, lasting for two seasons before being canceled at Starz. However, it retained a dedicated, cult following, and was later revived in 2023. It’s headed to Netflix for the first time in September. This series has aged like fine wine — we wouldn’t be surprised if it proves a big hit on the streamer.
A Different World
Coming to Netflix: September 24
Classic sitcom A Different World dates back to 1987, where it ran for 6 seasons. On September 24 — exactly 39 years after the original series premiered — we return to Hillman College in Netflix’s revival. The series is poised to be a big homecoming for fans of the original, with stars Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison both reprising their roles.
The revival follows a new generation at Hillman College, with Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert’s daughter Deborah (Maleah Joi Moon) entering her freshman year, struggling to shake-off the enduring legacy of her parents.
According to new star Maleah Joi Moon, the reboot is a beautiful homage to what came before, while forging out its own path. “There’s been so much care and nuance poured into [it] so that the people who really love the legacy show and identify with it and have beautiful memories intergenerationally feel cared for when we choose to embark upon this journey on something that they already love,” she told PEOPLE.
