2025 has been a massive year for the animated side of Netflix. Look no further than Kpop Demon Hunters, which became the streamer’s most popular movie of all time. Out of the animated movies that dropped on Netflix in 2025, which is the best?

Netflix has an esteemed history of animated movies. In terms of critical success, it doesn’t get much better than Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, which took home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film. From adult animated films to perfect family flicks, 2025 has had it all. In this post, we rank all 9.

9.

Plankton: The Movie

The SpongeBob SquarePants franchise is among the most popular television series of all time. Created by Stephen Hillenburg, the main series never failed to deliver pure irreverence and laugh-out-loud humor, making it entertaining for both younger and older audiences.

Over the years, the franchise has spawned a number of spinoffs; some okay, others downright pointless. In the case of Plankton, the movie garnered decent ratings on release. It certainly went down better than the Sandy Cheeks movie. The movie follows long-time series antagonist Plankton, whose computer wife goes awry and decides to embark on his dream of conquering the world without him.

8.

The Rose of Versailles

Okay, technically, The Rose of Versailles is not a Netflix Original, being produced by MAPPA in Japan, but it was licensed by Netflix in April 2025 for international release. The anime romance is about as lucky and artistic as you can get. Set in Versailles, France, in the late 18th century, the movie follows two noblewomen — Queen of France Marie Antoinette and Oscar François de Jarjayes — who are caught between love, honour, desire, and duty. The movie is based on the beloved Japanese manga series by Riyoko Ikeda.

7.

Fixed

Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, Fixed is the ultimate R-rated adult animation comedy. Directed by Award–winning filmmaker Genndy Tartakovsky and starring Adam Devine and Kathryn Hahn, the movie follows Bull (Devine), a dog who learns that his owners plan to neuter him after he’s after he gets a bit too frisky around grandma. As a result, he embarks on one last epic 24-hour adventure.

6.

The Twits

Back in 2021, Netflix secured one of the biggest deals in its history, acquiring the Roald Dahl Story Company in a deal worth in excess of £500 million. With a treasure trove of seminal stories to adapt, we’re starting to see some come into fruition. In the animated space, the streamer debuted The Twits in October 2025. Directed by Phil Johnston (Wreck-It-Ralph, Zootopia), the movie boasts an all-star voice cast, including Emilia Clarke (Pippa), Johnny Vegas (Mr James T. Twit), Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Beesha), and Natalie Portman (Mary Muggle-Wump).

In our review of The Twits, we praised it for heart, but we were a little underwhelmed by its execution. The Twits has created a solid platform for Netflix to continue building out the Roald Dahl library. What’s next? We take a look at that here

5.

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep

The Witcher has taken a lot of headlines in 2025. Of course, the main series released its fourth season in November, seeing Liam Hemsworth make his debut as Geralt of Rivia after taking over from Henry Cavill. Despite the major casting shake-up, season 4 was perfectly serviceable, without blowing away viewers. Let’s not forget that Netflix also released the animated movie Sirens of the Deep back in February 2025.

The second animated movie to come out of Netflix’s Witcher Universe, Sirens of the Deep follows Geralt (voiced by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s Doug Cockle), as he investigates an age-old conflict between humans and sea people. The film is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story A Little Sacrifice. While not brilliant, the movie was a worthy addition to the franchise. Hearing Cocker return to voice Geralt was a massive highlight for most viewers.

4.

In Your Dreams

Sweet, charming, and extremely imaginative, In Your Dreams was one of Netflix’s most popular animated movies of 2025. Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Alex Woo (who previously contributed to such projects as Ratatouille, WALL-E, Cars 2, Finding Dory, and Incredibles 2), In Your Dreams follows two siblings, Stevie (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport) and Elliot (Elias Janssen), who journey deeper into their wild and whimsical dreams, in the hope of finding the Sandman; an entity they believe has the power to grant them the perfect family.

3.

Lost in Starlight

While it might not have hit the immense viewership of other Netflix animated movies of 2025 — in fairness, it’s hard to compete with Kpop Demon HuntersLost in Starlight revived a ton of critical acclaim. In fact, the movie is one of the top-rated of 2025 on Rotten Tomatoes, boasting an outstanding 89% rating.

From its gorgeous animation to the beautiful story, Lost in Starlight is truly a breathtaking movie to behold. Directed by Han Ji-won, the sci-fi romance follows astronaut Nan-young and musician Jay. When Nan-young leaves for Mars, the vast distance between them creates the furthest-ever long-distance relationship. How do these star-crossed lovers deal with it?

2.

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl

Wallace & Gromit is a British institution nowadays. Created by Nick Park and produced by Aardman Animations, the ‘claymation’ series follows the lives of eccentric, serial inventor Wallace and his pet dog Gromit. They’ve embarked on many whimsical and dangerous adventures over the years (including a trip to the moon and back). In 2024, the beloved duo returned for Vengeance Most Fowl, which pitted them against iconic evil penguin Feathers McGraw once more. It was hilarious, big in scale, and arguably the best Wallace & Gromit feature to date. In our review, we rated the movie 4/5 stars, calling it a triumphant return for the duo.

The movie boasts a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and it’s absolutely deserved.

1.

Kpop Demon Hunters

KPop Demon Hunters is a certified Netflix phenomenon, smashing viewership records at every turn. In fact, at 325.1 million views, it’s the most-viewed movie ever on the streamer, surpassing Red Notice. The animated film follows KPop superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey. However, when they fail to sell out stadiums or top the Billboard charts, they instead go undercover to protect their fans from supernatural dangers. The success of the movie speaks for itself, really. While not officially announced, a sequel will no doubt be on the way,
