Netflix’s upcoming action-comedy Spy Duo (also known as the Untitled Netflix Spy Project) is officially in production, and we’ve got your very first look at stars Kevin Hart and Henry Cavill on set in Glen Ridge in New Jersey.
Filming for the new Netflix feature kicked off just over a week ago on August 31st, 2026, and these brand-new behind-the-scenes snaps show the unlikely comedic pairing already hard at work on location.

In the new images, Cavill looks effortlessly suave in an all-black ensemble and suede jacket alongside a red Triumph motorcycle. Hart, on the other hand, is sporting a much more domestic look, wearing a Joy Division t-shirt and plaid pajama pants. The two appear to be shooting a neighborhood scene next to a striking lime-green vintage Porsche Carrera RS with a New York number plate.

What is Spy Duo about?
The film is an action-comedy literary adaptation based on a short story by author Sean Lewis. Here is the official logline for the movie:
“Two rival spies cross paths in a Lamaze class as their wives become fast friends. With their double lives colliding, the two men are forced to reluctantly become confidantes and partners on the road to fatherhood.”
Who is behind the camera?
The project boasts an absolute powerhouse of production companies. Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment, Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort Productions, and Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat are all teaming up with Netflix to bring this to the screen.
Taking the helm as director is McG, who is no stranger to Netflix following his work on The Babysitter, Rim of the World, and Family Switch.
The script has been penned by a stellar lineup of writers, including the Molyneux sisters (Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin & Wendy Molyneux), the Nee brothers (Adam Nee & Aaron Nee), and Jonathan Tropper.

Alongside Kevin Hart and Henry Cavill leading the charge, the confirmed cast list currently includes:

- Justine Lupe (Succession)
- Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away with Murder, Lessons in Chemistry)
What is the production status?
Cameras officially started rolling late this summer on August 31st, 2026. According to current production schedules, filming will run through the fall, wrapping up right before Thanksgiving on November 23rd, 2026.
The shoot locations for the film are split between New Jersey, United States, and France.
