As we move into October and the arrival of spooky season, Netflix has an interesting slate of series on the way — and they’re not all scary. From coming-of-age comedies to the return of The Witcher and several excellent licensed series, there’s something for everyone.
September 2025 kicked off the fall season in style with a number of standout shows, including House of Guinness and Black Rabbit. Looking ahead to what’s in store for October, there’s plenty to get excited about, not least the much-anticipated return of one of the streamer’s most successful fantasy shows, The Witcher. We’ve selected what we believe to be the ten most exciting new series coming to Netflix in October 2025. Check them out below:
Monster: The Ed Gein Story
Coming to Netflix: October 3
Created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, Netflix’s ‘monster’ series is a biographical crime drama that follows the stories of infamous real-life ‘monsters’ each season. In the shows breakout season, it followed serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (hauntingly played by Evan Peters). Season 2 covered the chilling Lyle and Erik Menendez story.
The show’s upcoming third season tells the story of Ed Gein, also known as the Butcher of Plainfield. Gein was a body snatcher and serial killer. In fact, his extremely disturbing story inspired some of Hollywood’s most renowned on-screen villains.
Genie, Make a Wish
Coming to Netflix: October 3
Netflix has a glittering history when it comes to K-dramas shows — look no further than Squid Game and All of Us Are Dead. While those two were darker shows, the latest Korean entry, Genie, Make a Wish, is a whimsical, fantastical comedy.
A thousand years after disappearing, a quirky genie returns to grant wishes to a stoic woman without feeling. What follows is a fantastical and whimsical adventure, and possibly even a bit of love.
Boots
Coming to Netflix: October 9
An irreverent and offbeat comedy drama, Boots is inspired by former US Marine Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine. Set in the 1990s US Marine Corps, back when being gay and in the military was illegal, the 8-episode series follows Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) and his friend Ray McAffey (Liam Oh) as they navigate their harsh, unpredictable new environment.
The Resurrected
Coming to Netflix: October 9
Looking through the slate of series Netflix has coming up for October, Taiwanese series The Resurrected catches the eye. Violent, dark, and chilling, this series follows two grieving mothers (Shu Qi and Sinje Lee) who resurrect a scam ringleader to resurrect their daughters. It’s a perfect blend of brutal drama that also explores the sheer lengths two mothers will go to avenge their children.
Splinter Cell: Deathwatch
Coming to Netflix: October 14
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell franchise is over two decades old at this point. It all began with the 2002 video game, branching out into various media such as novels and comics. There have been on-screen attempts in the past, but they’ve never worked out. That’s until now: Netflix is releasing an animated espionage series called Splinter Cell: Deathwatch.
In the new series, Sam Fisher’s legacy is left to rumour and legend… but it’s not long before he’s pulled back into action, assisting a new recruit in unravelling a global conspiracy.
The Diplomat: Season 3
Coming to Netflix: October 16
When Netflix renewed political drama The Diplomat, they handed it an extra two seasons (which, as we know, is a rare feat for the streamer). Going into the new season, the stakes are higher than ever. “Season 3 flips the chessboard,” showrunner Debora Cahn told Netflix Tudum. “In Season 3, Kate lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want.”
By the end of season 2, Kate (Keri Russell) faces the harsh reality of getting what she wished for. After accusing Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) of orchestrating a terrorist plot, the President unexpectedly dies, and Penn is now leading the nation, with Kate being pushed towards the vice presidency. Better still, more is to come beyond season 3, with season 4 gearing up for a production start in November.
The Monster of Florence
Coming to Netflix: October 22
With October being the month of Halloween, there’s a surprising lack of creepy shows airing. However, the new series The Monster of Florence has you covered. Based on a true story, the series explores a mysterious killer who targets couples in Florence, Italy, from 1968 to 1985. The killer murdered sixteen victims, almost all couples in wooded and secluded corners of Florence.
The Witcher: Season 4
Coming to Netflix: October 30
Of all the shows arriving on Netflix in October 2025, The Witcher is undoubtedly the most significant entry. The series has been one of Netflix’s biggest fantasy shows since it premiered in 2019 — and it’s cost a lot of money to make. Looking ahead to seasons 4 and 5, the show will adapt the final volumes of the original novels by Andrzej Sapkowski.
By far the most discussed thing about The Witcher is the major casting shake-up, which saw Henry Cavill leave the role of Geralt of Rivia. The role is now being played by Liam Hemsworth, who seems to play the part decently in clips we’ve seen so far. But we’ll make our minds up when the season actually airs.
Furthermore, if our intel is correct, we’ll also get the much-discussed Rats special alongside season 4.
Parish (Season 1)
Coming to Netflix: October 24th (US only)
Giancarlo Esposito has become a household name in recent years, thanks to AMC giving him the role of a lifetime as Gus in Breaking Bad, which he later reprised in Better Call Saul (both available on Netflix, by the way). The network wasn’t done giving the legendary actor compelling roles either, as Parish, released last year, is honestly one of his best projects post-Breaking Bad.
A mix of John Wick and Driver, the series has Esposite playing Gracian, a family man who runs a luxury car service, and for the most part, life looks good. That’s until his son is murdered, which sets him down a path that resembles his former life. Yes, that all sounds quite familiar, but it’s worth the trip.
Starring alongside Parish in the superb series is Zackary Momoh, Paula Malcomson, Skeet Ulrich, Bonnie Mbuli, Ivan Mbakop, Arica Himmel, and Bradley Whitford.
Nurse Jackie (Seasons 1-7)
Coming to Netflix: October 7th (US only)
Returning to Netflix after a five-year hiatus is Nurse Jackie, the superb Showtime series that’s largely been away from streaming over the past five years, with the rights not being picked up elsewhere. That’s changing, thankfully, with it returning to Netflix. In what is one of Edie Falco’s defining roles (other than in The Sopranos, of course), she plays a nurse who’s good at her job but, thanks to some issues, becomes an inadvertent patient of her own and becomes addicted to meds.
