The Old Guard 2, The Sandman S2, and Mr. Robot – Pictures: Netflix and Universal Television
Welcome to another rundown of everything hitting Netflix over the next seven days. It’s going to be a busy week as we cross into a new month and approach the US holiday of Independence Day on Friday, the 4th of July. Here’s what you should be adding to your queue this week, and the full list of every confirmed new movie and series arriving over the next seven days.
As we enter a new month, there’s a high level of turnover, as evident in the number of new movies and series listed below. However, we haven’t included all the departures below. There are a couple of dozen departures planned for July 1, along with even more throughout the month. Watch what you need to, while you can.
What to Watch on Netflix This Week
The Old Guard 2 (2025) Netflix Original
Coming to Netflix: Wednesday
If you can believe it, it’s been a five-year wait for The Old Guard to come back to our screens. For a period, it seemed unlikely to happen, with the sequel stuck in post-production hell. However, with some reshoots and a bit of determination, the result will finally hit our screens this week.
In the sequel, Andy (Charlize Theron) and her team of immortal warriors face a new threat that could unravel everything they’ve protected for centuries. As she grapples with her fading immortality, Quynh (Veronica Ngô) returns seeking revenge, while Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts) remains in exile. Joined by Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), Nicky (Luca Marinelli), and James Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor), the group turns to Tuah (Henry Golding), an old ally who may hold the key to the immortals’ origins. Directed by Victoria Mahoney and also starring Uma Thurman, The Old Guard 2 delivers an emotional, action-packed continuation of the saga.
The Sandman (Season 2 – Volume 1)
Coming to Netflix: Thursday
It’s always sad when a show comes to an end, but at least when it’s done on the showrunners’ own terms, the show has a start, middle, and end for audiences to enjoy. That’ll be happening with The Sandman, which releases over the course of three separate episode drops throughout July, beginning with volume 1 this week. The new season has a lot of ground to cover, but from all the first looks and what we know so far, it’s going to deliver.
While the show is certainly going out with a cloud over its head due to the allegations leveled at one of the executive producers and creators of the comics, the series is, in fact, a visual feast, and one that the huge cast has put their hearts and souls into. The Sandman Summer has begun!
Mr. Robot (Seasons 1-4)
Picture: USA Network
For the first time in the United States, Mr. Robot is being licensed, and it couldn’t come at a better time, with the series having been without a streaming home for quite some time now. The excellent series comes from Sam Esmail, the same genius behind one of Netflix’s most-watched movies, Leave the World Behind. Rami Malek leads the cast as a troubled man who lives two lives: one as a coder for a cybersecurity firm protecting the world’s biggest corporations, and another as a hacker trying to bring down that very corporation.
Mr. Robot is the complete package, combining a nail-biting plot that has more twists than a double helix on a rollercoaster, stunning cinematography, award-winning acting, and a plot that feels as relevant as ever.
It’s going to be a busy month for new licensed series on Netflix US, with nearly a dozen major shows from various networks joining the streamer.
