Oktoberfest: Beer & Blood among departures on Netflix

It’s going to be a busy couple of months of Netflix Original departures from the streamer in the US (and globally in most instances), so below, we’ll walk you through all of the Netflix Originals we’ve confirmed are scheduled to depart throughout September and into October.

Please note: These removals are subject to change and renewal. Additionally, there’s no guarantee that these movies, series, or specials will find new homes following their Netflix departure. The Good Place is leaving Netflix in the US in September, but internationally, where it’s a Netflix Original, it won’t be leaving until September 2026. 

These will join the over 200 Netflix Original movies and series that have departed from the service in recent years. For the most part, Netflix owns about half of its library outright and 

Leaving Sep 1.

Caliphate

Swedish thriller created by Wilhelm Behrman and Niklas Rockström. The series follows an ISIS terror plot in Stockholm while three teenage girls are drawn into radicalization. Stars: Gizem Erdogan, Amed Bozan, Aliette Opheim, and Nora Rios. First aired on SVT in 2020 before landing worldwide on Netflix.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Dad of Light

Japanese drama inspired by the true blog of a son reconnecting with his father through Final Fantasy XIV. Directed by Kiyoshi Yamamoto and starring Yudai Chiba and Ren Osugi. Originally aired on MBS/TBS in 2017, it was later distributed globally by Netflix beginning September 1st, 2017.

The Match

Italian drama film directed by Francesco Carnesecchi. A character-driven story set during an amateur football match that spirals into a tense reflection on class, ambition, and desperation. Features Francesco Pannofino, Alberto Di Stasio e Gabriele Fiore.

First released on Netflix on September 1st, 2020, and leaving after a five-year stint.Not to be confused with the Korean drama film that Netflix finally released in May 2025 after initially picking it up as a Netflix Original.

How I Became a Gangster

Polish crime drama directed by Maciej Kawulski about a man’s rise in Warsaw’s underworld. Stars Marcin Kowalczyk, Tomasz Włosok and Natalia Szroeder. Debuted as a Netflix Original in January 2023.

Leaving Sep 17.

The Stronghold

Also known as BAC Nord, this French thriller was directed by Cédric Jimenez. It follows three Marseille cops accused of corruption. Starring Gilles Lellouche, Karim Leklou, and François Civil. Released theatrically in 2020, added to Netflix internationally in 2021, and is leaving globally after a four-year run.

Battle

Battle Leaving Netflix September 2025

Norwegian teen drama directed by Katarina Launing. The film follows Amalie (Lisa Teige of Skam), whose life changes after her father’s downfall and her discovery of street dance. Released worldwide on Netflix in 2018 in December and leaving after nearly six full years. 

Leaving Oct 1.

Spoiled Brats

French comedy directed by Nicolas Cuche. It stars Gérard Jugnot as a billionaire who cuts off his three spoiled children, played by Camille Lou, Artus and Louka Meliava. Released as a Netflix Original film in 2021.

Oktoberfest: Beer & Blood

German six-part period drama created by Ronny Schalk and Christian Limmer. It dramatizes the 1900s Munich beer wars, starring Mišel Matičević, Klaus Steinbacher, and Martina Gedeck. Released on Netflix in 2020 and leaving after five years.

Leaving Oct 2.

Òlòtūré

Nigerian drama film directed by Kenneth Gyang and produced by Mo Abudu’s EbonyLife Films. It follows a young journalist (Sharon Ooja) going undercover to expose human trafficking. Cast includes Beverly Osu, Omoni Oboli, and Blossom Chukwujekwu. Released on Netflix in 2020.

Leaving Oct 7.

To the Lake

Russian sci-fi thriller (Epidemiya) based on the novel by Yana Vagner. Created by Pavel Kostomarov, it stars Kirill Käro, Viktoriya Isakova, and Maryana Spivak as survivors fleeing a deadly plague. First aired in Russia in 2019, it was added to Netflix internationally in 2020. However, as we’ve covered relatively recently, it never saw a season 2 added due to Netflix severing all ties with Russia, including the licensing of shows.

Some Assembly Required

Some Assembly Required

Canadian kids’ sitcom created by Dan Signer (A.N.T. Farm) and Howard Nemetz. It stars Kolton Stewart as Jarvis, a teen who becomes CEO of a toy company, alongside Charlie Storwick and Ellie Harvie. Aired on YTV between 2014 and 2016, branded as a Netflix Original internationally, but strangely, the streamer only ever picked up season 1, with seasons 2 and 3 never having been added.

Mythomaniac

French dramedy (Mytho) created by Anne Berest and Fabrice Gobert. Marina Hands stars as Elvira, a mother who pretends to be ill to regain her family’s attention. Cast includes Mathieu Demy and Marie Drion. Originally aired on Arte in 2019 before Netflix picked up international rights.


Netflix Original Stand-Up Special Removals

There’s also a number of stand-up specials, mostly from 2023, that were signed on short 2-year exclusivity deals, leaving throughout September and October, including:

  • Beth Stelling: If You Didn’t Want Me Then – Leaving October 3rd
  • Heather McMahan: Son I Never Had – Leaving October 17th
  • Pete Holmes: I Am Not for Everyone – Leaving October 24th
  • Ralph Barbosa: Cowabunga – Leaving October 31st
