Netflix’s reality TV library has expanded significantly over the years, with various formats experimented with, international spin-offs launched, and content coming from all around the world. While many go on to run for many, many seasons, that won’t be the case with nine reality TV series, which we’ve confirmed to have come to an end.
Let’s take a look at some of the shows we now know won’t be returning for future seasons:
- Blue Ribbon Baking Championship (Season 2) – Released in 2023, this baking contest put amateur pastry chefs to the test in pursuit of the coveted “blue ribbon.” The show had some top talent hosting, but there are no plans for a future season right now.
- Celebrity Bear Hunt (Season 2) – First released in 2023, this celebrity survival experiment dropped famous faces into the wild to test their outdoor skills. Despite its novelty, the show won’t be returning. The show was announced to have ended.
- Cheat: Unfinished Business (Season 2) – First confirmed to be canned over the Summer by the RadioTimes, this dating reality show originating from the UK followed eight ex-couples whose relationships were torn apart by cheating, but given the chance at redemption. Hosted by Amanda Holden and Paul C Brunson.
- Floor Is Lava (Season 4) – A breakout hit of the pandemic era, the obstacle-course series premiered in 2020 and ran for three seasons. Teams navigated rooms filled with “lava” to hilarious effect before bowing out quietly. The series was quietly removed from Netflix’s reality recruiting website, and we’ve confirmed it to have ended for now.
- Indian Matchmaking (Season 4) – Produced by Smriti Mundhra, this matchmaking docuseries debuted in 2020 and ran for three seasons, following Mumbai matchmaker Sima Taparia as she guided clients around the world in search of love. It wrapped in 2023.
- Jewish Matchmaking (Season 2) – Launched in 2023 as a spinoff of Indian Matchmaking, the series followed matchmaker Aleeza Ben Shalom as she worked with Jewish singles across the U.S. and Israel. No further seasons are planned.
- Resurrected Rides (Season 2) – Premiering in 2024, the car restoration format spotlighted teams bringing classic vehicles back to life. No additional seasons have been announced, and our understanding is that poor performance meant a season 2 pickup isn’t happening.
- The Ultimatum: Queer Love (Season 3) – As confirmed by Variety, this LGBTQ spin-off to the main show, which is still ongoing, has been shelved for the foreseeable future.
- W.A.G.s to Riches (Season 2) – Released in early 2025, this short-lived and controversial series followed the wives and girlfriends of famous athletes and rap stars.
- Confirmed to have ended over Instagram, the official account for the show (which isn’t run by Netflix) wrote a couple weeks back: “So boom… W.A.G.S. to Riches ain’t coming back for Season 2. But baby, if y’all only knew the stories that never made it to the screen… whew. Let’s just say, the lid is real close to getting blown off. Big love to everybody who rocked with us through the ride, we appreciate y’all heavy. This ain’t the end, it’s just the intermission.”
Our understanding is that while these shows are not being picked up for future seasons at this time, some could eventually be revisited in the future.
Netflix declined to comment for this article.
A few more shows are currently in limbo from what we can tell, including Car Masters: Rust to Riches and Tex Mex Motors, which we’re usually able to find out are getting new seasons relatively early, but that hasn’t been the case for what would be their seventh and third season, respectively. Iron Chef, Pressure Cooker, Sneaky Links: Dating After Dark, Battle Camp, Building the Band, and Selling the City are also among titles currently with pending futures.
There’s also a slew of other shows dating back 2-3 years that haven’t had official verdicts. However, as a general rule of thumb, we’ve found that if it’s been a couple of years since the last season and there’s been no news, it’s highly likely the show won’t be back, although there are rare exceptions.
Reports also surfaced from The Sun over the summer, stating that Too Hot To Handle has been canceled after six seasons, with the most recent season debuting in August 2024. Although a seventh season hasn’t been announced, our understanding is that the show isn’t over yet.
Finally, we should note that Netflix still runs its big reality TV show website, which is still recruiting for the following shows:
- Squid Game: The Challenge
- Love is Blind
- Rhythm & Flow
- Is It Cake?
- The Circle
- The Ultimatum
- Barbecue Showdown
- Too Hot to Handle
- Nailed It!
- The Mole
- Outlast
- Queer Eye (although this series is confirmed to be ending)
- Love on the Spectrum U.S.
Netflix also has a number of ongoing reality shows that don’t require sign-ups from the general public, some of which have yet to be announced. Keep an eye on our complete list of Netflix renewals for the latest.
