Seasons 1 through to 3 of Cedar Cove are scheduled to be removed from Netflix in June 2018 from the United States streaming library. The removal date is June 17th, 2018.

The feel-good show from the Hallmark Channel attracted big talent in the form of Andie MacDowell. Andie has appeared in titles such as ‘Sex, Lies and Videotape’ as well as playing Rita in ‘Groundhog Day’. In the show, she played Olivia Lockhart, a Municipal Court Judge and the intricacies of her personal and professional life.

Sadly, in 2015 the series wasn’t renewed for a season 4 meaning only 36 episodes were produced. Season 3 was only added to Netflix back in June 2016 but that should’ve provided plenty of time to stream the show.

Why is the series being removed?

As with all removals on Netflix, it comes down to a licensing issue. When Netflix picks up its shows from other providers it pays for access for a fixed amount of time. When that time lapses, it’s down to both parties to renegotiate the deal. In the case of Cedar Cove, it looks as though no agreement was made therefore seeing the removal of the show.

In the case of Cedar Cove, we think it’s being removed because of how old the series now is. Netflix tends to put a preference on third-party shows that are either current or incredibly popular. In the case of Cedar Cove which has been off the air for three years, it’s likely that it simply wasn’t pulling in the viewing figures that made financial sense for Netflix to continue streaming.

Where to watch Cedar Cove now?

No new streaming home has been announced for Cedar Cove.

If you’re a Hallmark Channel fan then Netflix may not be the best location to stream their content anymore. They do still stream quite a few of their Christmas titles but beyond that, it’s pretty void of Hallmark titles. Most have moved to either Hulu or are available through Hallmarks own streaming service. Sadly, unless the two companies get into a new contract then we can’t see any more titles coming to Netflix.
