Netflix has just quietly revealed what could be your next high school teen drama obsession. You’ll soon be hitting the water with Crew Girl, a brand-new Canadian coming-of-age sports romance set in the competitive world of prep school rowing. Following a fresh update from Netflix, we now know the eight-episode series will be making a splash on our screens globally on Thursday, September 10th, 2026.
We first covered this project back in August 2025 under its working title, Easton Prep. Helmed by showrunner and executive producer Vivian Lin (SkyMed, The Lake), Crew Girl is produced by Thunderbird Entertainment’s Great Pacific Media and Blue Ant Studios. Blending high-stakes sports rivalry, soapy teen romance, and class-divide social issues, the show promises to take viewers inside the posh, cutthroat world of East Coast elite schools.
Here is everything we know so far about Crew Girl, including the expanded plot, the full cast list, and behind-the-scenes production details.
What is the plot of Crew Girl?
If you’re a fan of high-stakes teen sports dramas like Spinning Out or Zero Chill, this looks right up your alley. The series follows a young athlete whose life is completely upended by a very public incident, forcing her to start over from scratch.
Here is the newly updated official synopsis for the series:
“Sixteen-year-old Teagan Tao was a rising star in single sculls rowing, but a humiliating family scandal just capsized her future. After being disgraced by her father’s financial fraud, a teen girl must escape with her mother to a small town, starting over at the prestigious Easton Prep. There, she’s not just an outcast but stuck aground – there’s no girls’ rowing team. Her only way to the water is to take the helm of the school’s notoriously dysfunctional boys’ varsity crew as their coxswain.”
Thrust into a brutal world of old money and ruthless competition, Teagan must find a way to lead an all-boys team that doesn’t want her. Warring rivals, messy romantic entanglements, and betrayed friendships spill drama both in and out of the boat.
As she juggles her own rowing ambitions and her complicated relationship with her mom, Ella, Teagan also finds herself caught in the orbit of the team’s two biggest rivals: Josh Regis, the arrogant team captain, and Cam Dillinger, a quiet but fiercely driven “townie” who serves as the team’s underrated and overlooked would-be MVP.
With undeniable chemistry brewing on the water and classic enemies-to-lovers tropes at play, Teagan will have to fix her messy life, manage the boys, and find a way to win.

Who is in the cast of Crew Girl?
Netflix has lined up a massive, stellar cast of both rising YA stars and established talent for the new series.
Leading the cast as Teagan Tao is Miku Martineau, who Netflix subscribers will recognize from the 2021 action-thriller film Kate and the upcoming Star Trek: Section 31.
