Netflix’s smash-hit British superhero series Supacell is officially gearing up for its highly anticipated second season. Following a jaw-dropping finale, production on the gritty sci-fi drama has finally wrapped, and the series is deep into post-production. Here’s our comprehensive guide to everything we know so far about Supacell Season 2.
Created by Rapman, South London’s BAFTA-nominated (it picked up noms for best drama and scripted casting) super-powered saga took Netflix by storm when it debuted in June 2024. During its impressive six weeks in the global top 10, Season 1 accumulated a massive 174.40 million hours watched (equating to 33.40 million views) for the six weeks it spent in the top 10s. Since then, its viewership now stands at 265.7M viewing hours, equating to 51 million views as of mid-2026.
Given its massive performance and critical acclaim for its grounded, relatable take on superpowers, Netflix swiftly greenlit a second season in August 2024, continuing what Rapman envisions as a three-season arc. Here’s the latest on the release date, the growing cast, and what to expect when we return to the streets of South London.
Where is Supacell Season 2 in production, and where did it film?
Fans have had to be a bit patient with this one. While original plans had shooting scheduled to begin in early 2025, production was hit with several delays and eventually got underway in October 2025, pushing deep into 2026.
A major part of the show’s identity is its authentic South London backdrop, and local reporting confirms Season 2 stayed true to its roots. According to regional production agency Film London and FilmFixer (which manages on-location filming across the capital), camera crews were heavily spotted across the boroughs of Southwark, Croydon, and Peckham.
The Thamesmead Estate, which serves as the home turf for Tazer and the Tower Boys, also returned as a primary filming hub. In fact, Season 2 co-director Koby Adom, who actually grew up in Thamesmead, hosted community workshops for aspiring local filmmakers at Thamesmead’s Nest Community Building while shooting the new season there.
The characters also occasionally venture outside their usual neighborhoods to show the contrast in their lives. Just weeks before production wrapped, Calvin Demba (who plays the fan-favorite speedster Rodney) was spotted by local onlookers in May 2026 filming heavily in Central London on the upscale Bond Street, trailed by a camera crew while loaded up with high-end designer shopping bags from Selfridges and Prada.

Thankfully, the wait for cameras to stop rolling is over! In June 2026, showrunner and creator Rapman took to Instagram to share a massive update: filming on Season 2 has officially wrapped. Sharing a photo from the editing suite with a title card for Supacell 2 on his monitor, Rapman told fans:
“Due to circumstances out of our control we had to pause production for a while. But filming is finally done! I’m currently in the edit getting it ready. It’s coming and I PROMISE it will be worth the wait. . #Supacell2”
When will Supacell Season 2 be released on Netflix?
With filming in the can as of June 2026, the series has entered a lengthy post-production phase.
Supacell is a heavy VFX show—bringing those telekinetic, time-traveling, and super-speed abilities to life takes a significant amount of time in the editing room. Because Rapman is currently cutting the six-episode season together, a very late 2026 could sneak in, but there’s no evidence to support this. More likely, then, you can expect a broad 2027 release window for Season 2.
Supacell Renewed For Season Netflix
Who is in the cast of Supacell Season 2?
The core five super-powered Black Londoners who survived the deadly events of Season 1 are all expected to return as they gear up to take the fight directly to their oppressors:
- Tosin Cole as Michael
- Nadine Mills as Sabrina
- Eric Kofi-Abrefa as Andre
- Calvin Demba as Rodney
- Josh Tedeku as Tazer
Other expected returning faces include Eddie Marsan as Ray, Sian Brooke as Victoria, and Rayxia Ojo as Sharleen. We also expect to see the return of supporting players Yasmin Monet Prince as Veronica, Giacomo Mancini as Spud, Michael Salami as Gabriel, and Travis Jay as John.
As for Michael’s fiancée, Dionne (Adelayo Adedayo)? Unfortunately, she will not be returning. Rapman has made it clear that “there’s no coming back from the dead in this show,” confirming her tragic fate is permanent. Also seemingly dead is Krazy (Ghetts), who was executed by the Organization in the finale.
Per reports, Digga D was also spotted back on set for Season 2.
New Cast Members for Season 2:
The Supacell universe is expanding, and Netflix has confirmed several exciting new additions stepping into the fray. These casting additions we exclusively reported back in March and early July.
- Rhoda Ofori-Attah as Claire. Ofori-Attah is practically a Netflix veteran at this point, having appeared in Top Boy, Sex Education, You, and Shadow & Bone.
- Christie Fewry as Nia. Fewry is a 2024 Rose Bruford College graduate who recently starred in Romeo Must Die at Theatre Peckham. She is making her massive television debut here. (Note: Earlier in the year, it was also reported that Tiana Simone was tapped to play a character named Nia, so it remains to be seen how those roles will shake out.)
- Frank Bourke as Peter. Bourke is known for his roles in HBO’s His Dark Materials, Toxic Town, and Tim Burton’s Dumbo.
- Richard Keep as Mark. Keep’s prior credits include FBI International and We Were The Lucky Ones.
- Ed Allenby as Brian.
Behind the Scenes: Koby Adom joins the Directorial Team
Because of the massive scale of the second season, Rapman won’t be shouldering the directorial duties entirely on his own this time around. Koby Adom (Top Boy, Noughts + Crosses) has been tapped to direct episodes alongside Rapman. Adom’s previous work on gritty, London-centric dramas makes him a perfect fit to help share the heavy lifting.
(Side note for Rapman fans: The creator is staying busy at Netflix! He has also been tapped to direct a new crime biopic for the streamer titled The Council, which follows a Harlem syndicate in the 1970s and ’80s run by Nicky Barnes, aka Mr. Untouchable.)
What to expect from the plot of Supacell Season 2
If Season 1 was an origin story, Season 2 is where the training wheels come off. Rapman famously compared the first season to Batman Begins, adding, “Season 2 is when you really see what they become… It gets dark, that’s all I can say! It gets really, really dark.”
Here are the main plot threads we expect to see explored:
A Darker, Vengeful Michael: Following the heartbreaking death of Dionne, Michael is an embittered, changed man. At a grief-stricken rally at Club Onyx, a glowing-eyed Michael gathered his friends and announced his plan to use his time-travel abilities to head into the future, gather intelligence on the shadowy Organization, and make them pay.
A New Future: The eerie, cloaked figures and the exact future Michael saw at the end of the pilot? Rapman teases that because of the events of the finale, “that exact future doesn’t exist anymore. They’ve changed everything.”
Victoria Takes Control: To clear up a bit of confusion, Sian Brooke plays Victoria, the cold, ruthless boss running the facility (while Yasmin Monet Prince plays Sabrina’s friend Veronica). After executing Krazy in the finale, Victoria announced to Ray that his way was a failure and she is officially seizing the reins—setting her up to be a terrifying main antagonist going forward.
The Post-Credits Rescue Mission: Taking a page from the Marvel playbook, Supacell featured a killer Season 1 post-credits scene. It revealed that Sabrina’s sister, Sharleen, and another captive, Jasmine, are still alive and being held in a facility at the Ashington Estate in South London. Can we expect a major rescue mission to kick off season 2?
Ordinary Problems: Even with extraordinary powers, Rapman insists these are still normal people with bills to pay, criminal records to overcome, and family dynamics to navigate. As Andre tries to provide for his son and Tazer deals with the loss of his mother, their real-world problems will remain just as central to the story as the superhero action.
