Belgian comedian Nawell Madani will star in and co-direct a gripping emotional drama that was just announced for a summer release on Netflix. Here is everything we know about the project.
Nothing To Lose was co-directed by Madani and Nero The Assassin director Ludovic Colbeau-Justin. She is credited with the script and the original idea alongside Pablo Mehler. The movie (listed with a runtime of 99 minutes) will release globally on July 8th. Here is the first trailer below:

The logline reads as follows:
“Nawell Madani stars as Jade, a woman who has long struggled to have a child with her partner; after an embryo donation, a baby is finally born. Later, now a single mother, Jade discovers that her newborn has a rare form of leukemia. A race against the clock begins to find a compatible donor. What will Jade be prepared to do to save her son?”

Comedian Nawell Madani is joined by Guillaume Gouix, who will play the male lead. Gouix has enjoyed a successful career in both television and film, and was seen in last summer’s miniseries Under A Dark Sun, one of the most-watched French Netflix Originals last year.
The cast is rounded out by character actor Nicolas Briançon, Paul Fouré, Steve Tientchieu, David Salles, Majida Ghomari, Aïssatou Diallo, and Sarah Stern. On the writing side, Madani is credited with the screenplay and dialogue, with additional dialogue credits going to Franck Philippon, Walid Afkir, and Mohamed Benyekhlef.
What else do we know about Nothing To Lose?
Comedian Nawell Madani recently finished an international tour with stops in France and Morocco, and she announced additional dates for next fall. However, she is best known to Netflix subscribers for co-creating and starring in the tense thriller Thicker Than Water, which premiered in 2023. The show was never officially canceled; Netflix confirmed in early 2025 that it was “neither canceled nor in active development.” Filming for the movie took place under the radar and was confirmed last January alongside other programming announcements.
In an Instagram story posted with the first trailer, Nawell Madani explained, “Through the character of Jade, I wanted to tell the story of a mother facing the unthinkable. A woman who refuses to give up even as everything seems compromised. A story of love, courage, and hope that I carried with all my heart. I can’t wait to share it with you all.”
